broke out the big tire this evening. this beast weighs almost 900lbs. i was feeling pretty good about myself. i’ve worked my way up to flipping the medium tire (650lbs) 8 times. unfortunately i wasn’t able to flip the big one yet. i’ll keep at it though.
flipped medium tire 8 times and then pushed the prowler with 190lbs of weight to the end of the complex. then i road home on my bike and used my sweat soaked shirt as air conditioning.
I did pretty much the exact same thing as scott that session, haha. I was hoping to show him up and flip the big tire but that wasn’t happening.
I weighed 242 this morning. I weighed 272 at our last competition. I’m doing a few no carb days then a real big clean carb up. Gonna keep going with it… I might even try to get down to 220. Been tired of being pudgy for a while now and would like to actually look like I lift weights but still be strong.
Basically I saw some photos of me playing some water volleyball and I don’t look as muscular as I had thought I would. Even though I still dominate at volleyball!
It’s pretty easy just slowly losing the weight since I’m not doing anything drastic now. Probably more effective also… go figure.
heavy deads- had to switch back to conventional. i pulled something in my knee last week pulling sumo. i can’t bend my knee all the way because it’s swollen up. i was very happy with tonight though. my plan was to hit what i missed last week which was 785. i hit that easily and took it to 805 which is an all time weight PR. it was a grind but i got it.

That’s awesome on the PR. How does it feel to go over 800? I’m betting pretty freaking nice.
I hope your knee heals soon. I’ve been doing a bit more conventional lately just for that reason; it makes my knees yak.
btw, I appreciated the videos you posted in the historical zercher thread. I like the paused zerchers. I’m adding them in.[/quote]
it’s been a long time coming believe me. i’ve always struggled with deadlifts. it’s nice to finally see it moving some.
it’s weird. i don’t have really any pain. it’s just swollen up which limits my ROM.
no problem at all. of all the different zercher variations, i feel that the ATG paused ones have the best carryover.
it’s a shame that so many people will just totally right off a lift because it’s a little different. i guess i shouldn’t be suprised in this age of huge padded machines that make any lifting very comfortable. i feel like lifts that put me outside of my comfort zone are usually the most beneficial to my training.
“light” deadlift night- i got a little ahead of myself tonight and it led to a miss. i hate it when that happens. i switched to deficit deads for this cycle. last week i worked up to a tough 495. today i got this wild hair to go for a weight PR. my best straight weight conventional deficit pull is 545. tonight i decided to go for 565 which would have been a 20lb PR. i should have played it conservatiive and gone for something around 525 and then at the end of the cycle gone for a PR. needless to say i got it to my knees and it stalled. i’m such an idiot sometimes.

Preface: Understanding that you’re a hell of a lot stronger and more experienced than I am
I’ve had a similar issue with my knee before a warm compress an hour before then gym then asprin and neoprene sleeves on for the duration of the session and post session really helped me get ROM back, I never even really found out what was wrong but the swelling and pain went away very quickly, leaving the light sleeve on even when not in the gym also seems to help any swollen joint in my experience likely just from the extra circulation. Pure respect you’re strong as hell man this is always a good place to look for inspiration and heavy iron.
deads- started our peaking cycle for our next meet. we did elevated pulls today and worked up to a heavy triple and then backed off to a moderate triple. we setup about three inches below the knee cap. for me, this is a “dead zone”. i’m weak as piss starting from here. it feels just like i’m doing an arched back good morning. it’s ALL lower back right here. getting the bar moving is so damn hard. it’s much like doing a pin press. it takes everything to get the bar moving.
