So a couple of months ago I overloaded my back with way too much load during deadlift session. Something in a muscle really ripped and I had to crawl on all fours to get out of bed the next day.
I got treatment at a fysiotherapist and now I feel good. The damage was purely muscular.
But here’s the thing! It seems like my core muscles has taken a big step back. Especially when doing loaded squats or deadlifts my lowerback starts to hurt. I can’t do more than a 100 120 pounds before it starts acting up.
i done exact same thing 3 weeks ago deadlifting, couldnt even tie my shoelaces next day, what i did was take ibrufen and difene for few days, done a lot of walking stretching, week after i was back ifting heavy again
you are supposed to use your glutes as the main mover not the muscles in your lower back.
at least… thats what i’m trying to tell my lower back…
(it isn’t an issue of rounding - or at least it doesn’t have to be - it is more an issue of firing sequence).
every time i hurt my lower back (doing similarly to you) my abs switch off, too.
apparently it is partly because areas do go numb with injury and if your problem is overactivity of the quadratus lumborum for leg extension then that muscle is pretty darned deep - it is almost an inner abdominal muscle rather than a back muscle. every time i injure it all my good work that i’ve done on tva and internal oblique activation seems to go out the window. need to start the neurological recruitment exercises back from day one.
