Squat-Deadlift Hybrids?

I was just wondering what exercises resemble both squats and deadlifts. What I mean is that they work the same movements (back extension, leg extension, etc.) and the same muscles (quads, spinal erectors, hams, glutes, etc.) as both squats and deadlifts all in one rep.

So far, I have these:

  • Any form of deadlift w/ a very wide ROM (ie. DB deadlift, snatch-grip on platform)
  • Olympic cleans, a.k.a. squat cleans
  • Olympic snatches

Do you know any more of such hybrids?

How about the Jefferson lift? It basically splits the difference between a deadlift and a hack squat. You can find it along with other rare and forgotten lifts here:

I’ve only done it a few times and didn’t go very heavy.

Wow. That link as lots of nasty lifts. Thanks.

What if you tried combining belt squats and DB deads?

Yeah, I did mention that above.

Great website, thanks for posting. As for a lift – how about pull throughs?

Trap bar deadlifts count too, since they take some stress off the back, and add stress to the quads.
