Squat 50 Reps with 240 Pounds

our annual competition; squat 1.1 x bw (240) did 50 reps
bench press 1.0 x bw (220) did 23 reps
pullups bw did 14 reps
deadlift 1.1 x bw (240) did 37
push press (155) did 25

After reading your post I thought that the whole vide showed all the lifts you stated… not just 5 minutes of squatting lol

Those last reps look painful and honestly I’m surprised you didnt hurt yourself… you definitely should have stopped after the 4 minute mark

Man, I don’t think I’ve ever seen form degenerate so terribly until the very last rep, almost to the point of where you’re doing another exercise entirely. But good work! I would LOVE to see the other lifts.

jim wendler wouldnt mind the shitty form

as long as you’re not doing this shit all the time

I’d bet anything that Jim would agree with BBB on this one. That was without a doubt taking it too far and beyond stupid. Guy is very lucky he didn’t truly hurt himself.

Well…he did hit the depth… but other than that it was some of the worst form I’ve ever seen.

And even more importantly- why is someone that strong using a pad on the squat bar?

The last minute of that video was painful to watch. Good job digging deep to get the extra reps though.

Yeah he’ll probably be fine. Looks like he transitioned from squats into what looks like what they used to call a Back lift. Besides it was an “annual” event I doubt he lifts like that all the time.

damn i checked this thread expecting to see someone do 50 straight reps at 240, which would be pretty bad ass! The last half is more or less a huge chain of 1 rep sets with just as many rest-pauses in between.

I skipped ahead to the last few reps and this was my face.

Crazy mate!

The last few reps looking f0cking savage. Just be safe!

50 reps like that… mad respect man.

like everyone said tho… the last reps… ouch fuck. strong mofo to keep that from just crushing you.

solid depth btw.

pushing yourself is fine and a great test of mental/physical strength but you should also know when you switch from good training to bad training snd just stop. Now i know everyone here has at some point in there training history made a bad decision. lets not be to hard on the boy. keep training hard cuz BUT also train with your head and not your heart.

IT WAS A COMPETITION, SOMEONE DID 43 REPS ,SO HAD TO PUSH MY LIMITS. my workout for squats consisted mostly like: 1)front squat 250 lbs(Olympic lifting style superseted with good morning 250 lbs.for 20 minutes EDT STYLE.I admit was risky , but had to do that 50 reps.whatever it took. I think it make a lot of difference when you are aware of the risk that you are taking.sometime when you are ready to risk everything , that you go beyond your limits.

You certainly have balls. Not too many people have the mental and physical fortitude to crank out 50 squats. Good on you for that.

But I have to echo what everyone else has been saying…competition or not, those last reps were absolutely horrible and you could have really injured yourself.

i think the most atrocious thing on this whole thread was that music playing during the bench video

Sorry, but IMO you are a fool for risking your spine like that. Your form on the last reps was dangerously bad and because of that you set a bad example to all those watching you too.

Ego lifting bullshit. Your coach should be reprimanded.

That is my opinion.

Nah bro, the dead-squat is where it’s at nowadays.
