Sore Joints While Dieting

Has anyone noticed that their joints tend to get sore much quicker while dieting? My elbows, wrists and left shoulder get achy during and after a workout while on a keto for long periods.

I’m assuming this is because of the lack of water retention, so I’ve been taking creatine but I’m not sure what else to do. Anyone else experience this?

What about the the energy you need for the recovery of connective tissues in the joint after training? When dieting you’re under caloric maintence, which will have an impact on recovery abilities.

You can still make great dieting gains but adding in carbs pre-workout and then going no carb the rest of the day. This is what I would do if I were you, to keep yourself from getting beat down. You can lose fat while not being in ketosis, you know that right?

Plus adding carbs around the workout will have a positive influence on training intensity and loads. If I would weigh the pro’s and cons against each other I would add carbs.

I’ve had more joint pain when going full-on keto as well. Two things that helped the pain and did not hurt progress were adding some carbs back in with breakfast and upping my fish oil intake

Try upping your fish oil intake.

This happens to me as well. Usually, when I diet down, I’ll take all read meat out of my diet and stick with chicken breasts and tuna. I notice that after a few weeks of this my joints will start to ache. Then when I go back on red meat, it’s like magic, after a week or so, my ahcy joints just go away.

Yes,

I’ve tried carbs preworkout, however not in breakfast. I would take a half scoop (15g) of Rice Oligodextrin + 1 Grow! whey preworkout… and it slowed my weight loss noticeably compared to full-on keto.

I was planning to do a keto for 28 days and so far the number on the scale and the inches around my belly have been dropping and honestly I’d rather not change anything.

However, if this problem persists I will try your guys suggestion of carbs for breakfast.

Appreciate the advice.

Fish oil consumption is at 20g/day all taken before bed. Not high enough?

When dieting I dont give a shit about weight loss but more about fat loss…just because weight loss slowed doesnt mean fat loss did…
