I have played hardball my entire life and just switched over to softball 2 years ago and love it. I hit the long ball pretty good but would like to improve. Any suggestions for exercises to increase hitting power please.
For a sport like softball it is important to do some training at the speed at which you are playing. Do intense medball oblique throws against a wall. Start in a good squat and complete as many throws in 20 seconds.
Then gradually progress to a lunge position. 20 seconds on each leg forward, then turn around and do the other side. Make sure to concentrate on the concentric aspect of the throw as well as the eccentric. Don’t let the ball “catch you”. Be in control of the ball as it comes off the wall.
