One thing I love about weightlifting is that most everything is relative - a person can feel good for benching 90 or 500, depending on where they are at.
Like today. I’ve just started deadlifting, 3 weeks ago, for the first time in my life. I don’t have a spotter, and can’t find a person in my gym who is familiar with the exercise, so I’ve had to do it by feel.
Today I pulled over 300 for the first time, 325 for 3 reps.
Patricia, I defiately need to train with you and Ko, and soak up as much knowledge as possible.
I had all these folks in the gym today staring at me like I was some sort of he-man, pulling 325. Seriously, I need to start lifting with some that are serious.
Reminds me of that line in Oceans 11. “Good to be working with proper villains again”
Just wait until you pull a weight that before you do it you think there is no way its gonna move. You just say hold on and keep pulling and it comes up. Thats a good feeling.
I can’t imagine pulling 325 three weeks in. It took me 3 months to reach 325 and every pound after that has been a battle. Some months I can put 10 pounds more on my pr, othertimes 20 and sometimes nothing.
Keep pulling until you reach that point where you can’t put any on the lift and then apply everything you can find from Westside on how to build your DL- namely don’t deadlift- if you’re after a big number.
