Friday 1 May - volume week 2

Leg press - 3 sets - target 50 reps
140 x 17, 17, 16
Knees were sore on every rep. This is from the trench digging and kneeling in the dirt for hours. Great pump in the legs though, high rep leg press are next level.

Leg ext - 1 strip set
80 x 10
60 x 12
40 x 12
Just the time to stand up walk around and remove a plate between sets. Totally horrible and painful pump.

Sorinex Good morning machine - 3 sets - target 30 reps

Great glute and hammie work

Reverse hypers - light machine only no weights added

Some reps

Db bench - target 3 sets 30 reps

20 warm up
35 x 12, 14, 13 (77 lbs)
These felt great - good reps for this weight

Bench supported db rows - target 3 sets 30 reps

32.5 x 10, 10, 10 (72 lbs)

Very solid grip despite hands a little sore and swollen from digging, pulls were snappy and felt strong.

Strongman Saturday

Sandbag carry and tire drag

Sandbag 80KG - pick carry 20m turn and back 20m

Tyre drag forward 20m turn and drag walking backwards 20m.

7 rounds

Each round as around 1 min, so not a lot of work in terms of time but the training effect was very solid. The backwards walking was like doing lots of single leg extensions, my quads were burning like heck by the end.

Top effort there Simo! Bet you were blowing hard on those, you rest long between sets?

RE the DOMs unfortunately I have zero specialist advice, I just deal with it like a true man, bitch and moan about it at every opportunity, particularly going up and down stairs and sitting on the toilet.

But if I tell me wife she’ll randomly just start squeezing my thighs.

(The above is solely about legs DOMs all other DOMs is fine)

I only rested long enough to let me panting slow down. Maybe 90 to 120 secs. If your wife still squeezes your leg for any reason you are still winning mate :wink:

That’s a decent pace given you are moving for pretty much a full minute, I know with EMOMs my work is only about 30 secs and I’m dying still after 30 secs rest, I’d imagine at 60 secs of work I’d be even deeper in oxygen debt.

Even if it is to inflict pain?! In all seriousness though we do still have a very playful relationship, even after nearly 20 years together, definitely blessed there!

Yer I still had a pretty elevated heart rate at the start of each round, but had at least stopped gasping for breath :hot_face::joy:

Do your neighbors watch you do this? If I was your neighbor I would 100% grab my coffee and sit on my porch and watch you. I wouldn’t even care if it made you feel weird. :rofl:

:heart: My husband still slaps my ass all the time and makes funny little pervert comments. I roll my eyes, pretend to be annoyed and giggle.

That’s fantastic. My husband and I are the same way. I was just thinking the other day how lucky I am to have a husband who makes me laugh daily. I’m glad you still have that too. :heart::heart:

Not that I know of. LOL. My neighbour is Swedish and remembers strongman from TV when she was young. She will stop and talk to me if she comes out of the house at the time I am training and maybe stop to watch for 1 run. We have just had a couple of new neighbours move in. One of them came home as I was training and watched for a min when he got out of the car. No doubt he was just thinking “what is this nutter doing?” :joy::joy::joy::joy:

I consistently get comments from neighbors when I’ve got the farmers handles out :joy:.

The running joke is someone coming outside and shouting “What’s that noise…oh it’s just the crazy neighbor” :joy:

Farmers walk - 60KG per side 10m drop turn 10m back

10 rounds.

Went 15m each way on the last one just to work the grip a little more. No problems.

Haven’t done these for a long while. First run felt heavy but the rest were smooth and easy.

Really loving training outdoors again. Hopefully this will mean I can keep up this momentum.
