Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries (Part 1)

This forum is literally the best space for lifters. I’m going to look into this also.

@wiseman83 Bulk nutrients do a Hydrolysed Collagen Peptides - ice coffee flavour which I got a free sample of and it was ok. Mixes well in water and the taste is bearable. Think I am going to add this to my next order.

You mean after cortisone? It’s a steroid shot so it calms inflammation, which gives you some relief. It takes a day or two after the shot to feel good; they’re real stiff after.

I don’t have any cartilage in my knees, so I’ve tried some of the lubricating stuff as well. It’s expensive, and I don’t know how many docs cover it. Supposedly it’s great, but I never had enough of a series to really evaluate it.

I’ll 2nd curcumin, not sure it actually does anything but I think I feel better when I take it regularly, mostly hip pain for me these days though.

Had a look back through my logs and 7 a 170kg was a rep PR. I have hit this for multiple sets of 6 before but never 7 reps. Based on how these felt last night, 10+ reps at this weight is doable if I pushed it truly hard. This is a great spot to be in, especially given I did no deadlift for 2 months when running super squats. One more week of this training block and then a deload week. I am already getting excited to see what the next block will like.

Congrats on PR! And the thought of adding even more reps.

Simple 100 burpees tonight. This was horrible, puffing like a steam train and could barely catch my breath after. Legs were still sore and grumbling but that were nothing to worry about. It was my lungs that suffered the most. Getting my fitness back on these is going to be a long hard road.

Did a slight catch up here, looked like Super Squats was completed, top effort! I was disappointed thought, you put on some significant weight but no physique update photos!

Well done Simo class act as always.

Awesome!!! So glad I just read that, crazy motivating, those before and after pics are mad for a guy who’s not early in his lifting career, in the space of 6 weeks, yes of course a fair bit of fluff but it’s still awesome. Crazy work ethic huge congrats for getting through that, think I’m going to have to step up to that mark soon as well after that read.

Thanks mate. It was certainly a journey over six weeks and crazy what those 6 weeks does to your whole body not just your legs. If you can commit to three sessions a week and are prepared to eat like a crazy man I would deff say go for it. In fact I reckon you could do it two days a week and still get the same effect.

I’ll definitely want to do the 3 days, gotta be true to it first run through (except the milk would have to find a way round that given intolerance).

Yup, honestly I didn’t even notice the legs the upper body was so different it stole the limelight!

The milk is just a strategy to get in calories. Lots of egga, meat, peanut butter and avocados would do the job

I absolutely cannot figure this out, which does not boost my ego about my own athleticism

Getting back into the burpees and increasing the volume a little. Did a nice even paced 200 burpees tonight. Took about 30 mins but I wasn’t rushing as I wanted to keep the heart rate under control and not red line. Did these on lots of 10 reps with time in between to get my breath and heart rate under control.
