Last two weeks of super squats really fried them. I’ll keep chugging away for now but just monitor the squat power, speed and pain and adjust if required.

Probably the only thing of any note was me running super squats and adding nearly 8kg :joy:

Monday 27th June - week 3
Deadlift
Bar x 10
70 x 5
110 x 3
140 x 2
160 x 1
170 x 4 x 3 sets (374 lbs) - RPE 5, 5, 6
170 x 4+ got 7 reps with a couple in the tank
I could feel these through the knees as I pushed with the quads. Moved ok though.

Leg ext
3 sets
Light weight pump sets. Just giving the knees a break.

Db bench
40 x 8 x 4 sets
SS
Db bench supported row
35 x 8 x 4 sets
Press was good, smooth full reps for every set. Rows were hard work. Forearms felt like they were going to burst.

Overall a good session. I dropped the SSB squat tonight and added some light leg extension instead to push some blood into the quads. That felt good. Really happy with the top set of deadlifts. Reps speed was consistent for all the reps and didn’t feel any fatigue in my lower back. Slight soreness at the knees and hips did reduce speed from the bottom a little. I cut the tip set at 7 even though there was a few left because I didn’t want any slow reps.

Have you ever had cortisone in your knees? I have to do that periodically. There are definite downsides, but it provides some relief while delaying those replacements.

Oops that was odd !!!

No I have never had any treatment of any sort for my knees. My old rig has been quite reliable up to now. Even with all the running and now squats it has never let me down.

My knees have been bothering me a lot recently as well, so I’ll have to get myself out for some longer walks to see if it helps!

My knees are a few years newer than yours, so I should check if they are still under warranty :smile:

I think the weights you lift is outside of manufacturer specifications, voiding your warranty

Curcumin and collagen have seemed to help my knees feel better. If you’re not already taking those, I’d give them a try.

Knees and hips were both a little better last night, even after deadlifting. I think doing the leg extensions and flushing some blood in the quads helped and dropping SSB squats last night have given a little more recovery. I will see how they feel for burpees tonight and seeing as I dont have to squat again until Friday, hopefully the next few days will see some further improvement.
