Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries (Part 1)

Walked flat out into the kitchen island this morning and may have broken a toe!! swollen and starting to turn black. It’s the second smallest one so it’s not very useful. Hopefully it won’t effect my training Next week.

As always awesome work.
And about the toe situation, that’s stupid, but shit happens.
Going to see a doc, or are you just tearing the toe of. Aussie style, “No worries Mates, didn’t need that little bugger anyway”

Wasn’t going to tear it off but did mention to the misses that I might gaffer tape it to the middle toe for squats tomorrow !!

Toe is fatter and blacker tonight. Not a good sign

Dude, go see you doc before it becomes impossible to do so. Or, yeah, let a croc bite it off.

Mate I am practicing social separation, there is no way I am going near a place full of sick people just for a black toe!!

Toe is still fat and black (would post a pic but feet are manky) I can move it a bit but it’s pretty sore. Maybe just badly bruised rather that broken. Either way not much I can do about it.

I have broken a toe before. Didn’t go to the doc for it and ended up being fine (DISCLAIMER: My sister is a nurse, looked at it and said “it’s broken but there is nothing anyone could do about it anyway”. This is not medical advice!!!)

Btw. It happened because I dropped a plate on top of it, which is a little bit cooler than your story. The nail looks a little weird to this day and you can see that it has been damaged but functioning-wise it’s as good as the others, haha.

Mate I have broken at least 4 toes that I remember. Mostly just walking into things. When we moved into our current house (14 years ago) we first met the neighbours and had drinks at one of their houses. This escalated and when we ran out of wine I decided to pop home (just over the road) and get some more red wine and some good port. I was more than a little drunk and when I ran towards the front door I struck my foot on one of the rocks in the garden bed. I am one of those people who has a second toe slightly longer than my big toe. I hopped into the house, grabbed the wine and port and hobbled back to my neighbors. When I told them we looked down at my foot and my toe was on a 30 degree angle from about half way up. I grabbed it and yanked it straight, filled up a glass of port and enjoyed the rest of the evening !! The next day was way more painful, not just my toe but my head as well!! Lol happy times.

Hahaha seems like you shouldn’t be worried then!
Btw. we all remember the CCTV footage, so I can’t say that I am surprised by the story above :stuck_out_tongue:

NSW and Victorian ministers have announced a shut down of non essential services from Tuesday. Will have to wait and see if work is considered essential or not. Looks like I might be using the home gym earlier than I thought.

Shops and work still to continue which is good.
I’ll be back in the old shed from tomorrow night. Time for some garage gainzzzz.

The usual gym is closed so tonight I was back where I began 4 years ago in the garage gym. I am very lucky that I have access to basically a full set up at home and can continue the program with only minor tweaks. Good session tonight.

It felt good to reflect on 4 years of training. 4 years ago I started training after a calf tear from running, I started with an empty bar and slowly added weight week after week. I am still not where I want to be but I am still progressing week to week.

And that’s what it is about. In case you don’t get told often enough: You’re progress is nothing short of amazing! Great work mate.
