We are already paying for one of my daughters friends to come. She has had a rough few months with her parents going through divorce due to her mums issues with alcohol. We decided to take her to give her something to look forward to. she has never been overseas before and is so excited. It felt nice to do something nice.
That’s awesome! It really does look amazing.
That’s really good of you @simo74
Quick arm workout and more elliptical this morning. I might do another one of their conditioning classes tomorrow - that was fun and definitely exposed some weaknesses last time.
6 more weeks in the year!. I’m on the road for 3 of them, and actually on vacation the other 3 (didn’t take enough this year)… which means I’m on the road for all of them, but mostly with my family so that’s all positive.
I was like this as a teen.
Well, kind of. I did the irritated part, but then didn’t do the homework part.
I was an extremely independent kid, even to my own detriment… Had to figure it out myself, and if someone else tried - I’d cut off my nose to spite my face.
It sounds like this approach is working, but should that change - it might be worth a shot to try another approach.
Don’t suggest, instead ask along the lines of “what do you want from life, and what do you need to do to get it?”
Questions like those help me silence my inner procrastinator whose always screaming at me to do something unproductive.
I dont have a son, or a teen, this is just what would have helped me as a fairly uncooperative teen.
I really appreciate that and thanks for jumping in!
I hear you, and I think him hearing a message from multiple voices and multiple approaches is helpful in itself.
I really like the tactic of putting the ownership back in his hands, and questions that force a little self-reflection (the salesperson in me!). We’ve done a little of that when he gets into the “I hate school; I’m quitting” frustrations, and I do believe it at least gets him thinking about positive steps a bit. I’m with you that nobody wants to be told what to do, so it’s best to help him come to good choices on his own. I know for myself, I would always do the opposite of what anyone told me… even if I knew in the moment it was good advice and it’s what I would have done in the first place if they hadn’t told me!
King Kong ain’t got nothing on me!

To ensure you’re maximally contracting your abs, execute an extraordinarily loud fart to begin the first set; you’re wearing headphones so nobody can hear it. If you don’t nail it your first try, don’t worry; it takes practice. I’ve been doing this a long time. -

lol… subtle notes in the workout. I dig it. Thanks for brightening my day.
It’s these little details that separate champions from contenders.
Did a couple upper body workouts again the last couple days - always avoiding legs, like the bro I am.
I’ve been eating about as much as I want for about as long as I want. I think I’m ready to get back on something consistent in terms of both programming and diet. I’d like to see where I could get by my birthday (March) and then by summer. These little goals work well for me.
Speaking of which, I guess it’s time to start seeing who wants to do the T-ransformation Challenge again. Maybe I’ll throw a vote in the main forum. Anything anyone wants to see differently? I don’t want to fix something that ain’t broke.
I’m feeling it, dudes (and maybe 2 dudettes)! In the groove on a leg workout today.
I’ve been watching a bunch of old Dorian Yates stuff lately, but still prefer the Meadows’ sequence, so our monster to slay for the next 6 weeks is John’s “High Evolutionary”… pretty closely built to DY’s old Blood and Guts videos.
I’ve also been doing some of the workout classes on off days. I think I’ll keep that up. It’s fun, I don’t have to think, and I’m definitely breathing and sweating by the end.

@BethB: making me seem cool since 2025
I probably actually bring down your cool points.
Sorry bout that.
@BethB not possible, on either end of the equation.
Just finished the dog walk. Took me like 15 minutes longer than normal after the leg day! She showed absolutely no concern for my seeming debilitation throughout; she just took advantage of the opportunity to pee on even more stuff.
Sounds like an enjoyable way to spend a Saturday.
Going for D cups, and not solely because my bodyfat is higher than Dani’s. The diet starts tomorrow, am I right??
Anyway, Chesty LaRue day today.

So this bougie gym is full of Eleiko bars (I think I’m one of the few that recognizes the level of overkill). Anyway, I had one of the weightlifting ones in the rack and didn’t trade it out, and it was a terrible choice. I didn’t think it would make such a difference, but the bar was incredibly unstable in my hands. I was more worried about dropping it than pressing. Lesson learned.

I wanted to get a day ahead, because we’re out of town to see my dad for Thanksgiving, so I did back and arms together today. It actually made back less annoying, so maybe that’s a keeper in the toolbox.

1 Jan, come on now.
It’s amazing how weightlifting bars are so awesome for weightlifting and so terrible for anything else. But it’s also a legit crime to actually put one of those in a rack. J-hooks should NEVER touch a weightlifting bar.
And here’s your second!
