Silver and Steel

Is this like a bizarro version of the Toothfairy where you leave your dried out husk of a pancreas in the box first?

That’s pretty funny. We might have the order of events wrong, though: I need the “money” first to lose my “tooth” in this case.

Although to really drive the point home, I first read “pancreas” as “pancakes,” and was more excited… perhaps highlighting a root cause

Brutally hard, but productive, work week.

Back in for legs today. I was really tight and sore, but this was still lighter than it probably should have been.

  1. Seated Leg Curls
    Bunch of warmups
    3 x 10
    1 x 10 + drop + partials

  2. Squat
No SSB so just had to be whiny about my shoulders
    45/10
    135/10
    185/10
    225/10 x 2
That’s seriously all I felt like doing!

  3. Leg Press
    1pps/10
    3pps/10 x 3
This is a heavy but very smooth machine

  4. Leg Extension
    1 x 30
    1 x 25
    1 x 20

  5. RDL
    135/10 x 3
Kinda whatever I want out of here by this point

Full on chest workout today. I was in the groove - I could really feel my pecs rising on every rep; I can’t always get that connection.

My wife is back at LifeTime… so I’m back at LifeTime. Very nice gyms.

I am realizing I don’t really feel like lifting for more than 45 minutes (max) at a clip anymore. Going to have to play with a variable other than volume.

Same here. A 4x a week is really too much. Funny how it goes

You’ve done a fantastic job at finding new challenges to get after.

I did the “Alpha” class today (circuit training kinda stuff). I couldn’t do the Cossack squats at all on my right leg. I just can’t get into flexión. Hopefully it’s a mobility thing j can improve rather than an arthritic progression

Alright, legs today. Way less focus on volume so let’s see if I can progress on something again. If nothing else, I at least wasn’t bored by the end.

  1. Lying Leg Curl
I used a hoist machine that rocks back and forth while you go. Kinda odd but not terrible.
    2 x 20
    3 x 4
    1 x 10 + 10p + 10s stretch

  2. SSB Squat
I did pistol squats off a box in between sets to see if I can get my knees better warmed up. I remain weak as a kitten.
    45/10
    135/4
    225/8
    245/8

  3. Leg Press
    1pps/4
    3pps/4
    5pps/8 + 4pps/8 + 3pps/8

  4. DB Walking Lunge
    25s/10 x 2

  5. RDL
My lower back was super pumped and fatigued by now, just deconditioned I think, so took it really easy.
    135/6
    185/8

  6. Standing Calf
    2 x 10 + 10p + 10s stretch

Took the day off because the kids were out for Election Day - had a fantastic day with them.

Part of it included a workout. I’m feeling a bit of a groove with the reduced volume. Hopefully that holds.

I’m at the end of how long I want to eat “freely”/ push my calories up. I turn 44 in March - I’m going to have some goals to hit by then.

Today was chest/ shoulders.

  1. DB Bench
    35/15
    50/4
    65/4
    75/4
    95/8

  2. Incline
    45/6
    135/3
    185/3
    205/3

  3. DB Hex Press
    30/5
    50/10
    50/8 + 6 + 4

  4. Machine Flye
    1 warmup
    2 x 10 w/ 10s stretch on last rep

  5. DB Rear Delt
    20/~20 x 3

  6. Band Over and Back
    30 total reps

  7. Seated BB Press
Trying these out. Went super light, but felt pretty good on my shoulders.
    45/6
    95/12 x 2
    95/12 + 6 + 4

  8. DB Y Raise
    15/12 x 3

  9. Rope PD

    4 sets

  11. Row
Had to get my plunder out after burning the village down
    500 - 400 - 300 - 200 - 100

Did a back workout today that was super boring. I did try to deadlift from the floor instead of the rack, because I think mobility is an issue for me… turns out I was right! Loosening up is probably worth focusing on for a bit.

Not sure why, but this made me chuckle.

Likely because you’ve been there too! Back is super boring. I get it for the folks that just do some pull ups between sets of pressing. That’s probably the right way.

I think it’s more because in my head it was a grown man saying “super boring” like a 15 year old girl would. Like with a big sigh and everything. Lol.

Quick arm workout yesterday and another quickie, giggity, back workout today. Order seems weird, but it will work itself out over the week.

Rows and pull downs galore, with a quick pace, then some abs and calves and 10 minutes of bike intervals. The plan right now is just showing up until I like something again.

Enjoyed my workout today, so that’s a good sign! I haven’t been sleeping very much lately, and last night was only about an hour and a half, so I was pleased to get mentally into this with only a cup of coffee. Probably would have been a perfect Igniter day, but I didn’t.

  1. Lying Leg Curls
Just kept working up with sets of 10, then did 3 total sets with the top weight. On the last set I did partials and a hold.

  2. SSB Squat
    45/8
    135/8
    185/8
    225/8
    255/8
Definitely could have taken another jump or two, but I’m playing with frequency right now so held it there. I’m trying to be @davemccright so all my rest breaks are ~a minute until that last one was 2.

  3. BSS
This gym has a roller pad that you adjust and it was really comfortable. TfP approved.
    BW/8
    15/8
    30/8
    40 + 30 + + 15 + BW x Drop Set of Death

  4. Machine Squat
I loved this machine. Felt great. Again kept it lighter than I could have - let’s see how my back and knees feel before I really get after this one kinda thinking.
    1pps/4 x 2
    2pps/8

  5. DB RDL
    75/8
    80/8

  6. Ab Machine
    4 sets
