Silver and Steel

HAHAHA so good!

Seems pretty rare! At first I thought you were talking about hunting birds, like water fowls or something. (I have no knowledge on that front either.)

Oooh that does sound hard. I’m impressed that your wife and her friends did it too. My football skills are poop.

You’ve got to embrace your narcissism (or be an academic and call it solipsism). It goes something like this:

  • Everything descends toward chaos.
  • Everything I do results in specific improvement.
  • To overcome chaos requires a plan.
  • Specific improvements must be something other than chaos.
  • Therefore, everything I do is according to plan
  • Since I decide what to do at any given moment, it’s necessarily my plan.

They just held the ball and talked and made the husbands yell at them!

They are my people.

Day 2 of this little challenge workout. It’s kind of cool, but not really my thing. Today was lower body.

  1. A legit 20 minute warm up with all these shuffles and mobility moves. I hated every second. I did not feel like a dynamic wide receiver; I felt like a dork.

  2. SSB Squat
Worked up to 385 for a couple

  3. Superset:

  • SSB Lunge
    95/6 x 2
  • GHR
    BW/6 x 2
  1. Superset:
  • Leg Press
    5pps/10 x 2
  • Single-leg RDL
    25/10 x 2
  1. Giant Set (2 rounds):
  • Leg Curl x 10
  • Leg Extension x 10
  • Standing Calf x 10
  1. MetCon x 5 minutes:
  • 10 V-ups
  • 10 35# DB snatches (both arms)
  • 5 Burpees
    I got 3 rounds + V-ups into the fourth

I think there was stretching after this, but I was bored and didn’t do that. This is certainly different than my norm. Not sure if that’s a big win or not.

Amusingly, I’ve got an outlet not getting power (so we can’t get our Halloween decorations blown up in the front yard - consequence!) right after the DIY convo with @Dani_Shugart. If I don’t post again, it’s because my repair attempts were met with mixed success.

Maybe there’s an inverse relationship between how someone feels and how they look while doing stupid drills. I feel athletic, but look like this.

That actually looks like a pretty intense workout!

HAHA good luck! We’ll be on the lookout for you! :zap:

X2 on this being not just a beautiful idea but a beautiful attitude towards time and others. I’ve also gotta point out your sublime communication skills - expressing truth beautifully, which is my personal definition of real poetry.

Dude, I done told y’all I’m all eloquent and shit.

Seriously, though, thank you. I’m not sure I could convince my wife anyone finds me poetic, but I sincerely appreciate the kind words.

Today was extraordinarily boring. One more day before we’re back to our regularly scheduled programming!

  1. Super long shoulder warmups. Like to a silly level that had you bouncing all over the gym to go pick up some other light dumbbell. I will grudgingly admit my elbows then hurt less badly.

  2. Max reps hand-release pushups in a minute. I did 40; these weren’t bad at all and I should have moved faster.

  3. Max reps situps in a minute. These weren’t situps like you’re used to - you’re basically in a butterfly stretch on the bottom half but then your hands come all the way down and touch the floor behind your head like in a V-up; on the way up you touch your toes. I actually liked them, but every rep takes a long time and I only got 25.

  4. After this is was a bunch of chest and shoulder supersets. I’ve always hated these, except as a burnout. It annoys me to not be able to put any real effort into the main lifting because I’m just building a ton of fatigue. That’s a me thing, and not necessarily a program flaw, but it makes me feel like I’m in one of those boot camp workouts that aren’t really focused on anything.

Yay! Do you think your friend will stick with it?

That sounds partly like an ab-mat sit-up without the mat and partly like a jackknife sit up. Did it feel effective?

Ha - probably not. Maybe for a few weeks, though! I think it will at least kickstart him back into jogging or something, though, so we’ll see.

You nailed it! It was exactly that video without the mat. It actually did feel good. I get a lot out of Bosu crunches and leg lifts/ V-ups. This was kind of almost a combo in terms of feel.

In other news, the electrician is here, so I failed miserably yesterday…

Oh man! Can you get him to try your training plan?

We’re very glad you’re alive! Hope you take pics of your Halloween setup once you get it going!

Not a chance. We actually did lift together way back in college when we were both trying to be athletes. Now he’s pretty nervous everything is going to injure him. It’s just not his thing. I’m just happy when we hang.

But dead inside…

Will do!

Nailed it!

My kids are in the decorations pictures, so I’ll have to get some clean ones another day

I’m pretty proud

Dudes… I got to have a Zoom call with an NFL hero just before my time today (but obviously I watched all his exploits growing up); actually while those bell peppers were cooking. He was really gracious, and BSed with me about football a little, and it was really neat for me. There’s no moral to this story; I’m just school-girling a little.
