For sure we make it work and it just has to be a priority. I think our wives tend to be understanding because, at least in my case, it makes me a better dude to just go. My wife has always said she’d rather one good hour with me than half a day of me being cranky (I should have just stayed in the army, but I digress).
Hats off to you gents that can go and be productive after the long workdays. I far prefer the mornings, but it is what it is.
Hey! It’s official - I got to a level at work I’ve been chasing for years. What’s more - I really like my boss, my team and my organization (a true rarity for me).
LinkedIn is stupid, and I’m pretty sure my wife doesn’t know what I do for a living, so I’ll leave that here.
Not a humble brag or a “congratulate me” post, just a life update; I still have to do easy cardio and get buried by medium weights.
I started with leg curls, and all was mostly well. My butt and lower back hurt more than before and I don’t know why. I started warming up on swings and felt super tweaky, so I figured I’d catch up later in the workout.
Then I went over to squats and took maybe 6 sets with 135 trying to get into it - my tailbone hurt like crazy on the way up every time. Eventually I decided legs wasn’t happening today.
So then I figured I’d just do chest (tomorrow’s workout). I started warming up on dumbbells and was squirming myself out of position every time I tried to lay down because it was uncomfortable. After 3-4 sets of that, and not even wanting to get the swings in, I’d wasted half an hour and figured I’d take discretion over valor today.
I came home, took my backpack walk (without the poor dog, again, because he’s getting a little unpredictable), read through what is becoming a pretty amusing thread, and got on with the day.
It’s called “final verdict on HIT”. It starts out with some casual and arbitrary racism, then some narcissism, and rounds out with a lot of confusing definitions about powerlifters vs bodybuilders.
I love posts like that one. Classic internetty argument. I like contributing my opinion and experience to these sort of conversations but I refuse to get into the weeds with some of these insane side topics which are unrelated to the original idea of the thread lol
These debates on HIT seem to always break down to people saying “everything works” or “nothing works” and I honestly disagree with both of those. Technically, you could ride a unicycle to make a cross country trip, but a plane, train or automobile would work way better!
You’re right. I find them entertaining, but it’s often like trying to argue the merits of a religion: everyone is trying to convert, not have their own opinions challenged.
After the leg day that wasn’t, I was feeling super beat up so I took an extra day off. I also ate pizza with my daughter. I regret neither!
6k swings. I thought it was 6500 - I had to go back and look and got disappointed.
Today’s session was awesome, though. I’m definitely eating more food, but not lower quality food. Maybe I’ve just been underfed (or I’m justifying being a fatty)? I’m also sleeping better, even though I’m working a lot. I’m not losing a bunch of weight, even with all the swings, but I’m definitely not gaining any either. This might be fine for now.
