@youknowwhoyouare I know you don’t talk about it, but I’m calling you out. Anonymously because not trying to out you. But we are virtually shitting on the Chair Force, and I wanted you to know lol
hmmm
Lol, nothing. It’s an old kinda inside joke. Military guys will absolutely rip one another apart, just talk made trash about other branches. But it’s kinda like bullying your younger brother. It’s okay if you do it, but god help anyone else who does it. Same goes for this. Military dudes can mock other military dudes, but if some non-military person makes fun of any branch, all bro vets shall unite to smite them in epic fashion.
Edit: holy typo did this post get away from me. Fixed for grammar
“Thank you for your service” - on memorial day.
^Pro tip: Don’t actually do this. Memorial day is for the fallen, not the living.
Exactly!!
This, 100%, did not factor into my decision in the slightest. I was actually seen by two doctors in my first visit (one completing his residency and the other being the actual expert), and the first one said brought up the idea that I may have to give up competing and reduce my training to get my levels back up.
Without hesitation I said “I don’t care about any of that: I just want to be healthy again”.
It’s not my place to say there is a right or wrong reason for someone to do something, but for me, I’m not going to go about manipulating my endocrine system so I can keep lifting weights when I get older.
I’m driven by a fear of being old and weak unfortunately.
Being old is an accomplishment if you are a male in my family
To me it’s kind of like just accepting I’ll be on blood pressure or diabetes meds as I age. I might be, but maybe I don’t have to be. I’m not going to do none of the right things because I just think it’s an inevitability. I’m also not going to not take a medication if I end up needing it because I want it to not be true.
F€£&!!!
Well fought. First overtime in history, hate to see the good guys lose it.
Every single year it’s 3 hours of boredom and 20 minutes of heart attack

Go Army!
Awesomeness continued today, as we really start focusing on the work capacity. Today I played with the old CT Indigo programs. I just moved quick and went super light.

Then my kids wanted to bench the bar so I set them up and more or less did some curls while they held onto it. It’s kind of a balance to not let them jump right into everything but also not kill their motivation.
Then my wife thought she could beat me on a lap. She could not.
Sorry I’ve been gone a couple days - life got pretty busy for a couple days there.
My kids got a stomach bug and were projectile vomiting and pooping all over the place for a day; that was super fun. My wife and I did not get it, so I’m thinking food poisoning. They ate at chipotle, and I hate chipotle, so I want to blame that. My wife also ate there with them, which hurts my case, but I’m thinking we can just ignore that datapoint and go with my conclusion.
A friend and former coworker of mine took me to the Xavier game last night. It was a blowout, but we had great seats and it was fun to get out with good people. I don’t do much of that outside of work, so it was really good.
Tonight we have a Christmas train ride that’s kind of our tradition. My kids are growing up quick, so I’m thinking this could definitely be the last year of it (at least the last year they want to and I’m not forcing them!).
I weigh 215! So I quickly gained back the handful of pounds I lost. That’s a pretty ridiculous weight, completely due to my lack of portion control… let’s be honest: I like to snack on my kids’ food. Oh well, that makes the solution pretty clear as well.
@Andrewgen_Receptors because of some of your posts, I’ve watched a couple Dr. Mike Israetel videos on YouTube… I love the guy! He’s hilarious, informed and very practical. Thanks for pointing me that direction, even if it was not directly intentional.
you’re doing the transformation game right!!
Anytime! He’s one of my go-to resources for most things diet and generalized training related. I don’t entirely believe in the whole RPE thing that he recommends, so I don’t follow his programs - but his commentary on exercise selection and stimulus:fatigue ratio are quite accurate and important.
I have a bit of a man crush on him too.
At least the “before”!
I like how he talked through logically progressing a diet, too. That’s often lost here where we all try to “prove” what’s the hypothetical best way, but it needs to actually be something you can implement in the real world. I watched some of his videos talking through which things may make you less miserable/ hungry are the ones to go after - I liked those.
I’ve watched loads of Dr Isreatal videos and they are awesome but I struggle to implement much of what he teaches.
I think he may know the best and optimal way to get jacked but it involves a lot more thought, time and planning than I have.
If I worked out 5-6 days a week I’d definitely try his programmes out though.
Also love his thoughts about hammering a movement until it’s not working anymore and then changing it up. Great concept which again I don’t use.
