@rugby_lifting Some of the best bits of the true honey badger
Hilarious! I can never watch it enough. Thanks for finding it
I can’t understand half of the human honey badger’s comments!
Lol that’s normal mate. Even most Aussies can’t understand him. If you need anything translated just ask @wiseman83
Are you familiar with Yogi Beara? He’s the American sports poet
Nope sorry mate, never heard of him.
His pontifications include gems like:
“A nickel ain’t worth a dime no more.”
“Nobody goes there anymore because it’s too crowded.”
Lol good ones
We had (passed now) a famous snooker commentator called, Ted Lowe. His most famous phrase was, “and for those of you who are watching in black and white, the pink is next to the green”
The funniest part of that is “famous snooker commentator”.

Quick life updates:
I don’t know what the hell has been wrong with me the last couple weeks - like I’m unmotivated and whiny. I’m feeling more like a conquering hero and less a Gen Z slob the last few days, though.
I decided I was able to put an outlet in the wall behind where I hung a tv myself, without an electrician. Everything was going swimmingly until I nicked a neutral wire higher than I can reach behind the drywall above the piggyback outlet. So now I have to add another junction box in between the two, which upset me because that makes my mistake visible. Eureka, however - I’m going to turn it into a USB port at table height so it looks on purpose.
My wife’s gym opens tomorrow! She’s pumped. I intend to be the first one in there and mark my rack(s) (bonus points if you get what I did there); let’s set a tone, heroes!
My daughter is trick-or-treating with a group of friends all dressed as the same thing. The makeup party is at our house, so she’s gone from trepidatious to excited. She also has worked really hard at cheer and got whatever spot she wanted in the routine (I don’t understand all the words). I’m pretty sure the cheer moms are bullying me, though.
Most importantly, my son’s medication (about which I was nervous) is going incredibly well. He’s able to be told what to do or bounce back from mistakes without the world ending. I asked him yesterday how he was feeling and he said “good; I’m not as mad all the time.” That was awesome!
Happy for you bro on all points!
A word of caution:
Peeing on the gym equipment is understandable.
Peeing on the other rack might need explaining.
Hows your sleep? Diet? Life Stress?
Thanks man!
You won the “how clever are my jokes” challenge quickly…
Sleep is pretty mediocre, I guess, which is kind of my norm. It really seems to affect me lately, though - I didn’t used to feel like crap until several days of poor/ no sleep; now I feel awful after a bad night. What’s been happening lately is I’ll sleep 3 or 4 hours a night for 4 or 5 nights, then get cranky and take a Unisom or something and sleep for 10 hours. I don’t have any caffeine after 10:30am, and I’ve even cut what I do have in half. My old norm was I’d sleep pretty normally for 5-ish days a week (6-7 hours), have one night of 3 hours and one night of maybe none. I was not really hurting that way.
Diet… eh. I’ve not been as grown up as I should be for sure. I’m not pounding beers every night, but it’s certainly not been regimented either. I thrive on good, quality foods, so this is a really good “point-out” on your part; definitely something I can better control.
Life stress - I think it is what it is, you know? I’m finally done moving my family around (or am I… bwahahahaha!), so that’s all good. I started a new job, but I like it and I’m working for someone I knew before - I don’t think that’s a big deal plus my work travel is way, way less. Everyone at home is doing pretty well, so I think this is just the normal everyday stuff we all have.
So, action wise, probably clean up my diet and see if that drives better sleep is my thought? What do you think?
Well, I think you know what needs fixing here.
Do you limit blue light exposure (screens)? Off social media(s) for the last hour of the night? Get any sun in the first hour of the day?
No problems here, I meant this in terms of you dieting… caloric deficit rarely improves sleep quality; just pointing that out. (a beer here and there really won’t hurt any, especially if it helps you fall asleep).
Cleaning up the diet certainly can’t hurt, but I don’t know if that’s a primary driver of your sleep issues - you would have better insight than I would on that.
Being that you have a lot of new changes going on, do you have a steady sleep schedule (same time to bed and wake, roughly, every night)?
Another good point - I’m for sure still in a deficit. I went backwards - portion control before quality; not a good move anyway.
Good points again. I don’t do social media outside of this site at all, so that one isn’t a worry. Evenings are filled with kids’ sports, dinner, books and bed, so I don’t think that’s a problem. I am, however, on my computer a legit 7-9 hours a day in this job. That could be an issue; it should chill out as I get through my training and a better handle on the broader team.
I am up before the sun and go straight to the gym. We have a sunroom in this house that we don’t use at all - maybe I start working in there in the mornings. That would be pleasant anyway!
One of my childhood heroes, my dad used to talk about all the classic baseball stars, and I always loved Yogi. I got a signed baseball from him as a Christmas gift when I was 8, still one of my most prized possessions
That is really cool; I love stuff like this
I too spend 9 hours, sometimes more at the PC each day. I never felt my sleep was impacted by it as long as I’m off it 3-4hours before I’m thinking about going to bed.
As for the screens, most phones these days allow you to set it up to use warmer tones after a certain time. My phone doesn’t emit blue light at all after I think it’s set to 7:30pm, same as my PC. It’s a game changer. I sometimes even plan to read a few book chapters on Kindle led in bed but start dosing off before the end of one.
When my phone updates it sometimes resets my blue light settings and I once got 3-4 nights of terrible sleep before realizing. It’s a massive factor for me.
Is that the “night shift” settings? I’ve got that on. that’s amazing that you notice it so immediately- that really speaks to the issue
I use Android so not aware of the names for things on Apple etc. A quick way on Android is to swipe down from the top, find and tap “Eye-Comfort Shield”. It’s noticable instantly as the blues will turn to orange-y warmer tones. There are a ton of apps around. I think Twilight is the most popular.
