Sick and Unsure?

ey all

heres the sob story, since the start of the year i’ve been having issues with my digestive system(not being able to eat in the morning, not being able to eat much without being sick or having the runs) this has limited the amount i can eat although not being able to eat properly i’ve still managed strength gains up until three weeks ago

i caught the flu and i stayed away from gym for two weeks because it was really knocking me about, i went back last saturday it was brutal i had lost alot of strength i.e struggling with 100kg on bench and had to do military press with 40kg. Now on tuesday i did light squats and still barely able to walk three days later, i know my recovery is being hampered by the fact i can barely eat

now im going in for a procedure on the 8th of april to see what is wrong with my stomach and digestive system as numerous blood tests havent been able to tell

should i just give up on the weights until this issue is resolved or keep on keeping on?

gym has been the one constant in my life since high school and since ive been sick i’ve completely lost motivation too get in there and set some PR’s. I’ve also lost about 7kg since the start of the year due to not being able to eat

sorry about the rambling

also one last question i’m struggling with the lock out on my benchpress should i do boardpresses before i do bench or do them afterwards?

Definitely take a break. Keep up a walking and flexibility/mobility program if you feel up to it.

Great advice. You might want to increase your calories to help your body recover.

I would definitely take a break if I were in your shoes. This sounds rather serious and I would imagine your body can use all the rest it can get in order to recover. As for the diet, since you can’t eat much, try to get some calorie dense food in there since your body still needs the energy to function and recover.
