What else do you think this thread is for other than ‘throwing the information out there’? If you think we’re all sitting around ‘high-fiving’ each other for sharing the same views, I’m afraid you’ve missed the point.
If this thread is for “thorwing information out there” then it has failed. If you actually read this thread you’ll find very little real information. Very few posts in this thread (including my own) add any value to it.
No shit…but there isn’t much to this. You never needed to be a scientist to know how to grow big muscles. Getting those who actually listen to stop getting lost in the details is of great value.

Adding to this . . . like any conversation in real life, not every piece of dialogue is full of symbolism and quips from the most self-reflecting movies. There is some good info in here but it is each person’s job to find what they may find helpful in their life. If nothing else, at least be aware that there is a group of people out there who believe in this lifestyle we mention.
And eat McDonalds instead. I know I prefer McDonalds (and find it hard to hit 5000 Cal without the occasional burger or three).

While that might help; it’s totally possible.
Saying “I find it hard to…” is just an easy way out.
I eat about 5k a day and don’t hit my McD’s. Sure, it’s a lot of food and I’d rather take down a few big macs instead of all the food I eat throughout the day…but I guess it all boils down to personal choice.
I wouldn’t feel the same about myself if I ate there. (Often. I did eat there about 2 weeks ago during a 6hr road trip.)

It’s not like I eat there every day or something, and it’s not that I’m lazy per se, but “clean” calories just seem to leave me fuller for longer whereas I can swallow a double quarter pounder (740 kCal) and be hungry again in 2.5 hours. If I ate 700 kCal worth of steel cut oats mixed with Grow! Whey I’d either vomit or not be able to eat for another 4.5 hours. Maybe I’ve got a wimpy stomach or something.

LOL. No, I’m the same way. Certain foods will fill me up for hours. A protein shake can have me hungry again in 30min. Regardless of what anyone else says, what you do (how you eat) is based on your own results.
If you walk in the door in 3 years with 19" arms, no one is going to say shit about why you ate this or that. They will simply ask how they can do the same.
Just make sure your overall progress is justified by your actions and learn basic nutrition so you don’t end up like most of the country and avoiding fiber until you can’t poop at the age of 45.

I’m not trying to argue that anything new has been said here, but surely it doesn’t hurt to have all the information in one place.
As for saying that this thread is a failure - I don’t agree. Just because you think we are re-treading old ground doesn’t mean that nobody will get anything out of it.
There is a lot of good information here. It doesn’t matter if you or I have heard it before: it is still just as good.
Wasn’t it you that said “please, keep the advice coming” on the first page?

I’m in the same boat… but I usually substitute a high calorie meal replacement shake that I blend up when I need to meet the daily quota. I can chug down a 1000 calorie shake loaded with spinach, peanut butter, peacans, whole milk, egg whites, protein powder etc… and be ready to eat again in 3.5 hours.

Dude, go find something else to bitch about.
I started the thread, just to start the thread - I hadn’t pinned my hopes and dreams on it being a “success”. In fact, I hadn’t thought about that until you deemed it a “failure”…
Really, who cares. It was a good quote from Dante, it sparked a discussion, and even if no groundbreaking information was disseminated, it doesn’t matter.
Unless you’re an uptight tool who needs to go around knocking threads because he got no useful information from them. I’m not saying you ARE an uptight tool, but the point is that some threads are just a discussion, and I don’t think they need to be labeled as failures because you didn’t learn anything from it…

I was pointing that comment directly at ProfX. Not anyone else… If you look at my post again you’ll see I was quoting him. He seems to be one of the few people on this (slowly deteriorating) forum with sound advice.

Well, last time I looked this was a public forum. I’m not the one suggesting that this thread should be aborted because there is apparently nothing left to be said. I can’t see anybody else saying that…
Anyway, sooner or later somebody is going to turn up and start calling us all ‘fat and out of shape’, while boasting how ‘ripped and healthy’ they are…

At which point we’ll smash them under our massive plates of food!

My muscles tell me how much to eat, not my body fat.
When they’re doing what I want that’s how much I have to eat and that’s how much fat I have to put up with.
When they don’t, I eat more and same as above.
If I found myself getting fatter without a corresponding response from my muscles I’d eat less.
All I need now is 2000 studies and a million armchair experts to help me make that more complicated.
While it is simple, it’s kind of tricky when your starting out. I’ve only been lifting and paying attention to my diet for about 6 months. So even when you’re not eating enough, your still getting a little bigger and stronger since your a beginner. Just not as big and strong as you could’ve had you eaten properly. Its only now that the strengths gains have tapered off that I’m realizing I need more protein and calories.
I thought I was getting enough (the old 1g/lb you read everywhere). I went from a maintenance of 2400 calories to 3400 and not gaining weight. I found lifting heavy (5x5) my maintenance was higher than when I did 20 minutes of daily cardio and a 3x8 split. I’m bumping it up to 4000 this week to see what happens.
Good stuff. What your doing is exactly the right way to go about it. You are adjusting things when the gains slow down, and learning about what works for you at the same time.
You’re not falling into the trap of eating too much, too soon (and getting fat), but you’re not undereating either. You’re eating just enough to get the job done at that point in time.
The very best thing a person can do is follow tried and tested advice, and make adjustments along the way; but only if you have to . It doesn’t have to be much more complicated than that.

HAHAHA! I have exactly the same problem! used to feel stuffed all day long.
A couple of things helped me:
Home made beef bolognese doused in olive oil twice a day… 800 kcal per serving. The liquidity of the bolognese makes it much easier to stomach than a big steak, which - lets face it, isnt quite as interesting when it’s re-heated
Mixing my rice with water… not super appetizing but its much easier to chow down and does not fill you up in the same way
Not heating my oat. I was so sick of gooey sticking slime hot oatmeal and found that eating the same amount of raw oats with cold milk was a walk in the park
Ofcourse nuts and protein shakes laced with eggs, milk and oils
