i’d like to pack on another 45 pounds during a bulk (i think i can put on 20 pounds in about 3 months… i typically can put on weight easily if i’m not careful with foods and exercise) and maybe trim off about 10-15 afterwards… that would set me at a pretty decent size of 245ish and i feel that would be pretty stellar for a 6’2" guy with ambitions to have overall nice physique.
what i need help with is nutrition. are there any foods that are off limits even during a bulk or is it just eat as much as possible as fast as possible?
sure i understand large amounts of protien is needed (around 275 grams per day for me if trying to bulk, right).
what are some sample days from some of you guys around 210-220 that are bulking for a gain of atleast 20lbs?
1 lb of lean meant (turkey, beef, chicken) is 96g of protein, so if you were trying to get in 400g, youd need 2 lbs of that, and 200g of protein from shakes.
It’s really not hard to clean bulk, but the temptation to go to Burger King and down 7 chicken sandwiches will throw you off if you start out wrong.
Get in complex carbs with morning meals, and fast carbs while you work out.
If you put on weight pretty easily then probably go with a clean bulk. Although your goal of 20lbs in 3 months during a clean bulk is probably not going to happen.
I wouldn’t make ANY foods off limits, but if you tend to gain fat easily then I wouldn’t hit duncan donuts every morning either.
I myself have a hard time taking in enough to gain, so nothing is off limits for me. Today so far, Ive had oatmeal, hot chocolate, 2 pieces of cinnamon bread, a piece of pizza and a double double meal. Normally it wouldn’t be this bad, but I was on the go so I took what I could get.
But I probably wont eat like this for long. My stomach isn’t liking me too much these days. I’ll probably get back to PB&J sandwhiches on bagels, whole milk, and rice krispy treats.
I’d love to hear the big boy’s opinions on this subject. (ProfX, FattyFat, etc.) If you have not bulked considerably, I dont care about your opinion. Especially if you dont believe in “dirty” bulking.
I’ve found that lately I use the excuse that I’m “bulking” to eat food I probably shouldn’t be eating. I’ve seen the Prof previously bash donuts etc. I’ve also seen FattyFat say he used to down candy and pop to get his calories in. Example, I eat as many double cheeseburgers from McDonalds as I want. I used to skip the fries/pop and opt for extra burgers, but now find myself eating whatever I want including the fries/pop only because they taste so damn good lol(which might be at the expense of the extra burgers/protein). Where does one draw the line. Does it depend on how “fat” you’re getting? Or should one always opt for the extra burgers/protein and pass up on the empty calories?

Again, skinny people need not reply. [/quote]
I’m not exactly huge but by no means skinny. I usually go for 2 double quarter pounders with cheese, a small or large frie, and a diet soda or unsweetened tea. I think that the fries aren’t a huge deal. But I don’t see the need to down a huge amount of straight sugar. I mean, fat and carbs from potatoes seem to me like they shouldn’t really be compared to solid sugar.
I don’t think you can bulk and go low carb…at least not without great difficulty. I like rice and pasta.
I don’t think you should go so dirty that you eat potato chips, cookies and candy. You can certainly get big without needing that.
Do not fear the burger!
i am 6’5’', weighed 198lbs at the beginning of July and by thanksgiving i hit my initial goal of 225lbs.
basically, i went with 2lbs of ground beef/day, i had all of my carbs before 5pm (200g), i made a huge weight gainer for breakfast(1k cals) and another one before bed (800cals). got around 4kcals a day, and lifted 5-6days a week, with a minimum of 350g protein spread out over 5meals. shitload of peanut butter and other nuts.
I am taking a month off bulking right now, i didn’t gain too much fat, i honestly think i look a lot better now then i did back in the middle of summer. on Jan1st i hope to bulk for 7months and get as close as possible to 250.
/edit
3 times a week i had a 4-1 from in’n’out. 4 patties, 1 piece of cheese. Mmmm
It’s very hard to do a clean bulk. that being said, you don’t have to eat complete shit on a regular basis. like most things in life, somewhere in the middle is where you want to be.
to Jax UN - what the hell were you eating? or at least what weight gainer were you using? how the hell can you down or any person down 1,000 cal in 1 sitting? please do share, im sure the OP wants to know also

It’s not an actual weight gainer, i just throw a lot of shit into a blender until it hits 1,000 calories.
60g of fat, 60g of protein, 60g of carbs = 1,020 calories
2 scoops of chocolate Grow! protein powder
1 big banana
4tbs of peanut butter
1/2C oats or another banana
1/2C cottage cheese(full fat)
8oz milk
12-18oz water
ice
and sometimes i would add cinnamon if using vanilla protein powder
delicious
i would leave out most of the carbs for the pre-bed shake.

Seriously? There’s close to or over 2,000cals in the average value meal alone if supersized. You make 1,000cals sound amazing.
One triple meat hamburger from Whataburger has over 1,000cals in it.
A 1lbs steak has over 800cals in it alone.
Also, as far as bulking…the next time someone says “slow bulk”, ask them how much they have gained and whether they have pictures.
Unless you are damned close to your goal in terms of size, if you think you will “slow gain” your way to huge, you may want to set another goal.

1,000 kcal in a sitting is not hard at all. If you’re serious about putting on muscle eating 1,000kcal in a sitting should probably be routine for you.
As far as liquid kcals go, I regularly use the following:
