I didn’t know where to post this so I decided to just post in the beginners forum.
Whenever I try to lift even a small amount of weight doing chest exercise (bench, fly, etc), I feel a sharp pain on my outside part of my right shoulders. It’s weird because I can move around my arms and shoulders any which way I want without the pain, but as soon I put little bit of weight on it, the sharp pain ensues. Even throwing baseball’s or shooting hoop doesn’t affect it. It’s only when I’m at the gym lifting weights.
Any ideas what it is?
What can I do to make it better?
This injury actually sucks hardcore because the only real workout I can do is bicep/triceps, legs and cardio.
Hard to diagnose over the interweb but it doesn’t sound good if any load causes pain?Could be a rotator cuff. You have no pain at other times, when internally or externally rotating the arm?
Shoulders are nothing to mess with I would get it check out. At the very least for 2 weeks minimum I would do NOTHING!!! that causes pain, no pressing. and then come back slow and see what things feel like.
I’m a new guy training with a similar injury that I left to be aggravated by wrestling/lifting/boxing. Bench and military press are out of the question for me right now, which is a bitch because my workout is squat/press,dead or row.
An orthopedic doctor told me to do a few stretches and just keep away from anything that hurts. I supplemented with a few exercises from this site too.
At this point I just switch regular bench with flat dumbell bench since it doesn’t hurt my shoulders too much.
Make sure you check your technique as well, I found that the way I lay my back on the bench was fucked up and helped lead to injury. Flared out elbows were a problem for me too.
