Out of curiosity, does anyone else get shoulder bruises when doing lifts like standing calf raises and hack squat presses?
It doesn’t hurt at all, but every time I do one of these exercises, I get like 3 vertical red stripes on the top of each shoulder, right where the traps hit.

Off and on for a few years, but not that often. I usually prefer other exercises, like sitting calf raises or lying calf presses. Sounds like doing it more often would lead to less bruising?

I used to get sore shoulders from that, my hands used to hurt when i did back and arms. They no longer ht as my body has adjusted. Maybe you can put a pillow on the pad or wear a heavy shirt, some people use pads on the squats bar for this same reason. I think it’s called a sissy pad.(not a joke)

Yeah, I was wondering about that. If the weight causes your capillaries to burst I’m not sure how your body would adjust so it doesn’t keep happening.

when you have 400lbs on your shoulders, thats a lot of pressure, it is from the seam of your t-shirt… i get it from squats sometimes also.

Is it from your t-shirt or from the pressure being localized at your traps? I bet if you did the exercise with your shirt off, you would still get the burst capillaries.
Yep, I get the exact same thing. I agree with PMPM in that they do seem to follow what would be a t-shirt seam line, but I usually work out in a tank top, and I get them, so I’m not sure that that’s it. Of course, maybe I only get them on the occasions I wear a t-shirt… Hmmm, I’ll have to make a mental note of this and pay attention now.
