About four days ago my back started hurting in the thoracic area. It would cause a sharp pain if I twisted a certain way, the pain isn’t very bad right now and it seems to be getting a little better, I’m thinking I should call up a chiropractor and see what he can do. I’m not entirely sure how I injured it in the first place, I did a back workout two days prior to any pain. I did a short shoulder workout two days ago and it didn’t seem to bother it, however I wouldn’t want to push my luck with squats or anything major.
I’ve never had any back issues before so I’m not really sure how to go about this. Should I go see the chiro, or wait it out a while longer?

No, don’t see ‘a’ chiropractor, see a GOOD chiropractor, or a GOOD osteopath, osteomyologist, physiotherapist, etc.
In my experience, it is the practitioner, not their particular discipline that makes the difference.

word, I live and die by my chiro(s). Most of the good ones around here have multiple “things” they do ala ART, Graston Techniques, stuff like that. Try and find one that deals with sports stuff too, they will usually understand you better. I actually had one tell me, just stop squatting and deadlifting. hahaha, yeah right dude.
imo Chiro’s are excellent at diagnosing back problems. I think they can treat a majority of the issues most of us will encounter.
I had a herniated disc awhile back and my chiro told me what it was before I went for the MRI that proved it. He also told me he couldn’t do much to help me with the pain. I had to head over to pain specialist who gave me cortisone directly into the disc, which worked wonders for me.
Sounds like a dislocated rib. I have a rib that slips out occasionally, behind my right scap. Had a PT pop it back in repeatedly for awhile. It still slips out occasionally, but it is farther between happenings.
I’ve broken my back before and I had to make the same choice: “Wow it really hurts when I turn, should I see a chiro or a Legit ortheopaedic Surgeon?” Went to the surgeon found out I had a fracture in L4/L5. MY advice is to see a ortheopaedic surgeon if the pain is that serious. But, some people swear by their chiros. I would’nt do it tho.
I’ve got an appointment booked for Wednesday. I’m a little worried though because I’ve heard of some chiro’s hurting people even more but we’ll see how it goes, most likely won’t let him near my neck. The pain wasn’t bad enough to go see a surgeon thankfully. It seems to have died down almost all but I get an occasional discomfort when doing something like turning around while backing up my car. My scheduled back workout is tomorrow but that’s going to be skipped, foam rolled my back today which seemed to help too.
So I saw the Chiro today, turns out my flexibility is quite and issue so that’s what I’m going to need to work on. The Chiro also mentioned I may have a rotation in my spine, I’m not sure how serious that is but I’ve been sent to get x-rays. The good news is the pain is gone, now I just need to prevent a recurrence. Does anyone know how I would go about loosening/stretching the muscles in my middle back?

ART is the bomb! I had a knot of muscle in my lower back for six years that became really unbearable in recent months. I started seeing a doctor who specializes in ART for only 10 minutes, twice a week for 4 weeks and now the lump is gone and I am now pain free. I still can’t believe it. He also did some work on my hip flexors. I’m sending him all my co-workers.
Yeah I go to a Chiro. He cracks my back, neck, and does Graston on tender areas, among other things. Definitely good stuff, especially for my hip flexors.
