I think the barbell complex workout in the new blood on the barbell article is way superior to the 300 rep workout in terms of strength building and looking better.

Alright, thanks guys for clearing up some of this stuff for me.
And for the record… If you don’t have anything nice to say, just keep the pie-hole closed!
I’m not looking for some fancy routine that will make me ripped over-night. I was just asking what were your takes on it, don’t go off on me.
It’s people like you who make beginners discouraged to where they end up quitting.
You don’t know me, so stop hating.

Mad Titan,
How’d you get big without the 300 workout? Seriously, must have been so many steroids, right? Nobody gets that big without the 300 workout.

Jedidiah,
I believe 49ersFan81 summed it up best with the last sentence on his last post…wouldn’t you agree?

Okay, the workout consists of:
25 pullups,
50 deadlifts,
50 pushups,
50 jumps on a 24 inch box,
50 floor wipers,
50 single arm clean and presses using a 36-lb kettlebell,
and 25 more pullups.
–All these were done as one superset–
This is not what they did everyday. This was a workout that those that were considered advanced enough were invited to attempt. I believe only 16 or 17 cast members were invited to attempt this workout and they all succeeded. They did not do this every single day though.
In fact, they never knew exactly what they were going to do that day until they got to the gym. They kept their bodies guessing at all times. They never followed the same routine, not once. They used all sorts of stuff to train, such as flipping tires, chains, and kettle bells.
I seriously doubt that real Spartans looked anything like the actors in that movie. From the statuary from that period, they were probably built more like a basketball player or a football wide receiver than a defensive tackle.
When the wife and I went to see the move, it was obvious who the audience was. She looked at me and whispered in my ear, “Sure a lot of gay guys in this movie, huh?” I shrugged and said, I didn’t notice. Then the movie Spartans showed up with their tight little leather shorty shorts and the ab/peck show began. That is when the wife leaned over and whispered to me “Okay, I think I have it figured out.”
It was a god movie.

First off you’re right. I don’t know you. But, I’m fairly certain I don’t want to either. Second, I wasn’t “hating”. You asked what our takes on it were, and my take on it is that anyone who would consider doing it is someone who doesn’t have the patience to look into one of the infinite amount of training articles found, You Guessed It!!, right here on T-Nation which contain an actual realistic training program, not one designed to get out of shape actors a six-pack in a minimum amount of time.
Out of shape? I don’t think so. Have you looked at the workout? It’s a true test of stamina. Even without knowing what weight the deadlifts are at, I think anyone who can get through the whole thing with no rest is in pretty good shape.

Just because they could get through it after training does not mean that they were not out of shape before they started training.

I got a good 300 workout for you:
299 Ab Crunches.
1 Sissy squat.
Here’s another one:
245 Bodyweight squats.
53 Jumping jacks.
1 Pushup.
1 Curl. (No weight added.)
Okay I know this is an old thread but…
Go do 245 Bodyweight squats without stopping, I guarantee it’s not the “sissy workout” you had in mind.
@ 1 rep every 2 seconds that’s eight minutes solid, and you’ll probably slow down before you get that far.
