hey bud just found your thread i myself was a thrower here in mass in hs and threw in college as well didnt end up gettin to go anywhere good due to three knee surgeries… and also i only threw my senior year of hs… yet i was still in the low 50’s but the shitty part was i threw like 50 feet standing so as you can see my glide sucked with no coaching haha… ne ways i coach now in eastern mass…
your thread is good and your lifts are far superior to most kids in my league who are throwing 45+ … bottom line is tho throw as consistently as possbile but i would suggest throwing 3 days or less a week as you will burn out your nervous system over time… also throwing shoes to some people make a huge difference at the very least they will make your glide smoother

i am looking to invest in shoes which ones would you recommend?
today:

135x8
225x8
315x12, beastly reppage and i feeling sore but after a good stretch today turned out pretty good, looking for 365x10 next time
cleans

You could probably rep 225 around 13 times fresh.
Good shit.[/quote]
thnx man, i def. think the rev grip pressing helps, also i should have a month and a half about in btw seasons im thinking of doing more of a bodybuilder style workout split with
day 1: chest, tri’s
day 2: legs, bi’s
day 3: back, shoulders
day 4: off
repeat sticking with 6-10 reps and lotsof compound movements, try to gain some muscle while im loosing fat
also for the throwin id take fridays off completely if you keep you current schedule as much as possible but do just that one thing different you should notice a very noticeable difference in the pop you feel on sat after the recovery day

ok, sounds good, i would probably learn spin at college if the coach wanted me to but for hs i will stick with glide because our coach doesnt know spin, but for two years i can get new shoes if i needed to for college
im not sure on your size… but these are the ones i had in hs and still have they have been updated and are slightly better now… the first three on this link are the same shoe just in different colors

i have ordered from that last site myself but this site my friend has ordered from and the prices are better …
thnx man should i go with the SD 2 or just plain old SD, also how much should i throw the 16, right now i just use it for about 8 standings then work on glides with the 12 thnx for all the help
today i did interval training for fat burn, tomorrows chest cant wait.
id say just depends on what you want to spend they r basically the same shoe technology is the same grip is same… and yah 8-12 stands r good and id also work in a couple glides throwing eas though as in full speed glide but dont throw it for distance …
You can also glide with the 8 throwing the same not full out but to work on your speed of movement
On the light-heavy shot stuff, I believe that light shot work is more beneficial that heavy shot work, especially as the season progresses.
The 8lb shot might be too light, but if you could find a 10lb or 5kg shot, those would be ideal.
Keep working hard, 45 feet is just around the corner.

thnx, i would have to purchase one and right now im saving for the shoes… so maybe during the summer when i have a job!
Awesome log! Cant believe i havnt seen this around a bit more. I just started throwing like 3 weeks ago for indoor and i’m loving it (to bad i’m a senior, i’ll only get one year to throw during the spring) but i’ll be following this a bit! Seems like what you’ve been doing is working really really well, how many times a week do you throw? Awesome progress!

mondays we throw 20-30 times, tuesday’s 6-9 (pre meet), thursday same as monday, friday same as tuesday its so much fun cant wait for disc outside haha
agreed on the 8 being too light but i figured your hs in mass was the same as mine real short on cash haha … we only have 16’s at my school cause i bought them myself out of pocket… not sure if ne places on the web still sell them bu tthey use to have practice shots with interchangeable weights … basically the center screw in piece can juss be taken in and out and each one is weighted different may be worth searching around for and best of luck
Since you don’t have access to a 10lb or 5kg shot, throw the 8lb. It’s not important enough to go out and buy one. Pick a range 5 or so feet further than you throw the 12, and practice hitting that distance with the 8lb with minimal effort. The point is to learn motor patterns for the longer throws.
CoachJD, back when I coached in high school, I did the same thing. By the time I quit, most of the school’s throwing implements were ones that I bought. That’s where most of my pay from coaching went.
