Short Distance Prowler Work

So this may be a dumb question but with the weather being what it is here in Ohio, would there be any disadvantages to pushing a prowler for short distances like 10-15 yards but for more trips to make up the volume? I have room in my basement but it obviously isn’t going to be 40 yds or more as is suggested for most prowler work.

I would think that, as long as the volume is the same and I am doing like 3 trips without stopping between it would be about the same as doing a 45 yd push with a few turnarounds.

It certainly is better than sitting on the couch daydreaming about pushing the Prowler but I know there are others from Ohio who brave the elements and get it done. You should too.

I am in the " spend more time doing, less time thinking" camp. Try it, if it works great, if not, try something else. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Thanks for the reply. It’s not really about braving the elements as much as it is about the elements causing problems with the exercise. I live on a busy street so pushing on the street is not a great idea. The sidewalks kind of suck. The sidewalks are raised in spots so the prowler would catch on the edges of the blocks of the sidewalk and dig in. My only real option was to push in the back yard but with the ground being so wet it wasn’t working when the sled would sink into ruts. The “prowler” is not the EFS prowler. Maybe I should call it a pushing sled. Anyway, The best area I have at the moment is the basement.

I will give it a try and see how it works.

Oh ok, your first post only spoke of weather and mentioned nothing of those critical facts, which is what steered my responce. Yeah, playing in the street is prolly a bad call. Do you have a driveway? That may be an option. Also, maybe drive to a near by parking lot and get it on there or maybe a street or two over in front of the hottest chick in the neighborhoods house. Seeing your man skills, she would probably throw herself on you, lol. IDK man, sounds like you need to get creative regardless. Good luck dude.

I tried shirt distances - it was pointless. Maybe someone can get something out of it but I never could.

I alternate weeks between sled and prowler. I just throw it in my hatchback and leave it there. Often then, when I see something interesting - a new parking lot, track, hill, etc - I pull over and pull it out. I do have a Matrix though, so it is easy to keep said equipment in car.

Sidewalk seems awkward.

If you’re stuck with short distances, sprint with it. Try ladders - 2 trips at 2 plates, 2 at 3, 2 at 4… all the way til you top out, then work your way back down to your starting weight. Don’t care how short your distance is, that’ll smoke you.
