Today = 4th day no carbs (except for during workout).
I’ve had caffeine withdrawal affect me less than this. I’m feeling anxious and I can hear the snack cabinet and potato bin calling for me ----- “EEEEEAAAAAAAATT MEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAATTTTT MEEEEE!”
Oh man, can I relate to carb withdrawl. It’s been my experience that if you can grit your teeth through the first week, you’ve beaten the hardest part. The paranoia, crankiness, and just general PMS can be wicked, but is short-lived.
I’m going with left hand inverted grip for now. I’ve got scratched up shins, so I was pulling closer this time, but still think I need to sit back a bit more during the pull. Body still feels twisted with inverted grip-- left side feels like it wants to be away while right side digs in shin. Still working on it.
Form critiques and advice welcome.
On another note, I ate the hell outta some rice today… Need to start thinking about that gut sticking out from my lifting belt :0
Here is my critique. And I say this with wisdom of a) much bigger pullers backing me up and b) I make some of the same mistakes as you and they make a small weight seem heavy.
Get you fucking ass further down. You are very inconstant with this (so am I).
Keep you head up. I am guessing there is a mirror in front of you and you want to see how much you turn purple. Don’t look that way. Find a spot on the ceiling. Focus, keep a hold of the bar, and squat the bar up.
I see a little bit of you trying to curl the bar. Arms slack, lats flared. Arms are just chains with hooks (your hands) attached for your body to move the weight up. Your torso and legs are doing the work.
Keep the arch from the floor up.
Hope this helps. Your build and strength you should be pulling in the mid 600s. Get to it.
Nice work Steely. Now I am going to have to post some vids in my thread pulling. I havent look at your thread in a while you doing back squats? I switched to front squats for a while to work on some quad development and give my hip a break. Pete great advice if you can in a couple of weeks check out my thread to give me some advice on my pulls.

I’m in a front squat mode right now. I want to work on my deadlift and the f.squats don’t bother my back as much. I hadn’t deadlifted all last year opting for below-knee rack pulls. I hit the 500+ in August then backed off with the hip. Still doing lots of leg presses and other leg work, but I think the front squats are a better fit with hitting deads (for me) right now.
My biggest issue is just picking the weight up off the floor. If I can get it to my knees, I’m pretty sure I can lock it out at this point. Have to work on that. My squat is better than my DL so Pete saying ‘squat the weight up’ makes a ton of sense.
On a similar note, I really feel my glutes/hips/inner-thighs today, so they were firing yesterday for sure-- a good thing.
I’m really looking for some superlative adjectives here. Maybe most just can’t related to it but a 405 front squat is in a whole different realm than us normal humans are use to. I think everyone’s being a little blase about it. That was a one of the most impreesive things I’ve seen on here (even if I had to look between dudes’ legs to see it all). I’m late, I know.
I am officially impressed and that takes alot. Internet bow to you.
As far as the deadlifting goes, I agree with Pete (see, now I sound like I know what I’m talking about).

That means a lot coming from you! Thanks. I’m truly humbled-- I still feel like such a beginner.
