Was feeling pretty weak today…kept leaning too far forward it felt like…here’s 330 for 12 reps…pardon the grunts
5/3/1 Cycle 3 Week 1 - Funny week with Inauguration/MLK day on Monday and snow here in Maryland…have a referee class to attend on Sunday so I doubled up my deadlift and overhead press today…She Say was at a funeral with her mom when I took an hour break in between deadlifts and overhead presses, so I read Act I of the Two Gentlemen of Verona rather than bang her…have to say, Shakespeare < She Say.

Only ran once this week, but I’m shooting for 3 times per week on average…33%…I’m at 50% since Jan 1…would have run today, but back will be hurting tomorrow I believe and don’t want to overdo it…and it’s fookin’ cold and She Say is home now.
Another meet!

I’m trying to work my way through the top 100 books of all time according to the Guardian. So far I’ve read 25. Thankfully there is no Shakespeare.
But I will have to read some eventually because I always feel so dumb when people talk about it and I don’t have a clue what they are going on about.

Man…I tried doing one of those lists 25 years ago…it was a 100 books to read before college…good on you if you can slog through your list, but I was like eff this, I’m done reading books other effers say I should’ve read. I actually like to read Willie Shake a Spear. Good funny stuff.
The lists I do look at are the Top Lists for like a given year…the Top 25 books from 2012 list I found somewhere maybe Washington Post had some really awesome books I’d either never heard of or forgotten about or would’ve had no interest in. Ray Boom Boom Mancini’s biography being a good example.
Does a company make argyle socks for deadlifting? I’ll buy them for my next meet. Or do you just wear argyle socks. In any case I think it could be a thing powerlifters do on the over 35 forum and post pics for laughs from their meets. It would kind of be a club type thing.
Sen Say queto yourself: On the the deads is to keep your chest up.
all in all pretty good lifting in here and some banging…and running.
Grunts are ok in my book with 12 rep deads. Nice work!
315*1
Spent a long time with it on my chest as She Say was videoing and i forgot to tell her to stop videoing if I couldn’t lift it. so I was thinking…man…I hope I can lift this…then I was thinking…I better lift this now…

I got a snazzy black pair from Brooks Brothers. Was going to wear them last time out, but sissied out.

Gracias. I forgot about the chest up mantra.

It sucks and is fun all at the same time.
Nice pause on the bench. I bet with that kind of pause time ability you have a few more pounds you could add on your bench with a slighter pause.

My plan is to start adding in a couple heavy singles every workout…I’m hoping to add 10 lbs per week…for a few weeks…probably won’t be pausing quite that long going forward, but want to emulate meet guidelines as much as possible…
Sounds solid.

as a rock.
435 deadlift. This didn’t feel as heavy as the grunt sounds. Hit 425 in competition last November. Failed at 435 back in October.
Grunts or no grunts that’s good progress.
