It is not clear why you wish to drop the front squats. Do you think they are retarding your overall progress, or anything more specific? Do they cause discomfort?
With the level you have attained and further progress, front squats will likely always be less than your back squat. That should not be a bother to you, nor the difficulty; they are a harder exercise to execute and master. But they also allow for recovery from your back squats, apart from strengthening your core.
Ok I decided to give Front Squats another chance due mostly to TheDudeAbides’ Rippetoe log,

So, I gave it a shot at did 1 rep @ 260 after my warm up and it did help 3X5 @ 230 felt easy compared to last weeks 225. So I guess I’ll keep this up until I start getting the same feeling about front squats again then try something else.
Works, doesn’t it. I’m not sure if you need to go 30 lbs higher. I think I only did 10. Today I’m shooting for 275, so I will probably do a single of 285.
I’m envious that you are able to switch between the two. I would like to alternate to get better at both.
Just an overall bad day lifting my head was not in it, I think I might be stalling on Squat and Bench which sucks becouse I had a goal of 350 and 225 in my head. the last couple of weeks have been less than good as far as my personal life goes mabey that has something to do with my drive/motivation to lift or mabey I need to start thinking about changing up my program.
Not necessarily stalling: It appears that you have had difficulty in carrying out your program with consistency in the last few weeks, while continuing to increase the poundage, and that has probably affected results. Don’t push yourself to hit a goal if you cannot be taking the steps you know you need to take in between.
Regroup and come back. If problems continue you may need to consider later whether life and work demands allow for this particular program, but don’t rush to conclusions. You have documented some great progress.
Well today was/is an interesting day, I was just starting to get ready to go lift when our AWOL sirens went off(I live on campus at a youth correctional facility) so I got to chase a couple of runaways though Custer State Park, unfortunately I didn’t get them, needless to say I reinforced why I need to work on my cardio, when I got back about 2 hrs. later My wife had to goto work for someone who called it so I got left alone with the 3 kids so I couldn’t go to the Gym but I did do some other strength exercises.
Elevated push ups w/20.5 lbs of tow chain, hands and feet on cinder blocks (extends ROM)
Farmers Walk with Cinder blocks
Squats with same tow chain over my shoulders
and I’m counting the mile + cross country run.
I admire you for getting in a workout any way you could. With that can-do attitude, you will be chasing them next time with the tow chain over your shoulders and the cinder blocks in hand! I am pretty much ‘gym-bound’ myself, so can’t give much first-hand advice, but I am sure you could accomplish a lot just doing the things you mentioned and other stuff regularly. Have you got a big tire to flip?
No I don’t have a “Big” tire to flip but I do have some spare 16" Truck tires on steel rims(35-40 lbs) that I’m trying to rig as a drag , my friend has 2 though, trying to con him into donating one to me!
Warm Up + 1 Rep @ 275(just to see if I could)
Front Squat: 3X5 @ 235
Warm Up+
Military Press: 3X5 @ 145
Power Clean: 3X5 @ 170
Considering all todays work out went well even though it was supposed to happen yesterday. A lot going on today looking into buying a house which will definitely change some things, the house we are looking at has a garage and a Garage/shop which would soon become a weight room/shop so I could let the kiddies play in the fenced in yard an lift at the same time!!! hopefully we can figure this financing thing out!
275 is not my 1 rep max, I was going off a deal from TheDudeAbides log about doing one rep heavier than your working load I did 1 rep @ 260 last time and TheDude said that 30 over might be a little much so I had to do more this time. because more is better… BTW I have no Idea what my 1RM’s are for any of my lifts due to no training partner and not wanting to die.

I know you’ve only done it several times, but any conclusions? I personally like the concept. I’m not sure if its actually a concept. More of a mental preparation.
I like it it gets you (mentally) past the this is going to suck phase knowing you can put up more than what your working set is. Next time I’ll only go 15 above my working set…
Holy Crap today was exhausting, I did some light PT at work, hit the gym right on time. I had trouble with this work out last week so I decided to stay at the same weights for squats, I got all my sets and reps this time, I went up by 5 on my bench I think the trouble I had last week was mostly mental I dropped # 5 of my second set, took a little longer than usually rest before set 3 but still dropped rep 3 about half way. By the time I got to Deads I was dripping, which is unusually for me, I tried to pull 365 which was my scheduled weight but could not get it off the ground so I knocked the 25’s off and did an easy set of 315 without straps 1st was with a double overhand then alternating for the other 4.
