couldnt get any lower without letting the back round
and i’m not a fan of rounded back work since my 2
herniated discs a couple of years ago.
what do you think?
thanks

I really don’t like that movement, although I’ve done it before, but if you insist, you must get deeper. Do this by (1) lightening the load, and (2) slowing your descent until you can hold your arch.
However, I really can’t think of a time I’d prefer these to a back extension, a pull through, a DB/KB swing, or just a lighter standing GM.
Good luck
Form looked fine to me. You got plenty enough range of motion to work what you wanted to (low back). We usually do these lighter than our standing GM’s in order to protect the back. Some of the westside guys used to do these pretty heavy, but I haven’t read many people doing them other than for assistance.
I think for heavy assistance, standing GM’s are going to give you more bang for your buck since you get the glutes and hammies involved. Still, if they’re working for you, I say keep doing em.
thanks. i also do themstanding with more weight.
itwas thefirst time i tried them sitting.

I’ve always been taught that Good Mornings primarily a hamstring exercise. I know they carry over to the lower back but I have never understood good mornings to be a back exercise.
As for OP< I guess the form looked okay but it is something I have never done and I been training for years. As long as your back stays flat you should be fine.
I wouldnt have gotten away with that at my gym…the last time I cut my GM’s high, I got to re-do all of my sets with a lighter weight.
