Hey, been lurking for a while reading up and decided to post about my situation.
I had the corrective scoliosis surgery at the end of last September. I know have two bars in my back, one on either side of my spine, and screws inserted into the vertebrae. My spine no longer bends at all.
I was lifting very regularly over the previous summer and into the school year, and am looking to get back into it. Weight lifting is one of my most favorite things to do, the fulfillment I get from changing my body is immense.
I’m going to start the Westside for Skinny Bastards plan, as that pretty much describes me. I’m 126 lbs, and am 5’10" ish. Yes, I am rediculously thin and am eating at every chance I get.
Now, as far as deadlifting and squatting go, I’ll only do one of these on leg day. I really shouldn’t put extreme pressure on my back as I dont want anything bad to happen. Which exercise would be best for me? From looking at pictures of deadlifting and squatting, it seems deadlifting puts more pressure on my back, but I’m looking for a more experienced opinion on the matter.
Thanks for any help.
