Scapular Stability

Hey CT,

I had a question about scapular positioning during the first and second pull on both high pulls and power cleans.

Todd Bumgardner wrote in his most recent article that he cues his lifters by “wrapping” the scapula rather than pinning them when performing certain movements. It seems to better recruit the upper back muscles and the lats after trying it.

Is this the optimal position for the shoulder blades during both phases of the pull, as well as the bench press?

The reason I ask is that my numbers drop a bit on the pressing days and it feels somewhat awkward during my pulls.
