SBWC Fall Classic Training Log

Yeah. They got broad body weight ranges for the singlet. I think I was like that in the middle of one and I’m a pretty jacked midget so it looked nice and fit snug but not overly so. I’m used to wearing compression garments though.

Yeah I’m grinding. I’m working that way now…I’m old stuff breaks too easy.

I tweaked my hammy lifting on vacation :man_facepalming: Nothing bad

You are a beast sir. I don’t think you give yourself enough credit. Get better soon

Big pr on the deadlifts today! Wasn’t feeling 100% today so i was really glad to actually be able grind this one out. This is probably the longest grind i’ve had since i pulled 505 last year. It’s not quite 550 but i’m still gonna rename this log. Definitely not maxing out again until the meet in september.

It’s crazy how fast you get it off the ground. That’s my problem. If I can move it an inch I’ve got the rest no problem… it’s breaking the floor that I struggle with

Good job on the massive PR!

Fuck yeah man, that was a solid effort.
It just flew of the floor, congrats on reaching that milestone. I’d call it a 550 pull. Well done.
Now get your head down, work hard and smash it at the comp.

@wanna_be yea I’m usually pretty fast off the floor in general. The fun stops at my knees though as you probably saw during the video haha.

@mortdk thank you mort. Definitely sticking to submaximal pulling until the meet. Hoping for at least a 550 in comp.

Don’y be too cocky it’s the last lift of the day you’ll have a big squat and a big bench behind you.

But if you plan it right I’m sure you’d have it in you.

Yea for sure. Thats definitely a third attempt right there, if at all. Right now I really need to pump up my squat and bench numbers. They are wayyyy behind

@losthog @guineapig

Thanks guys, means a lot coming from you two. In truth this max was pretty unnecessary but I had to see for myself that I could do it. From now up until the meet its going to be submax pulling and dialing in technique. I’ve got a bit of a routine laid out for the next 5 weeks which should bring up my bench and squat pretty nicely. Deadlift may take a backseat here.

Congrats on the deadlift PR, did you follow any specific programming for that or did you plan all yourself? I havent pushed a deadlift max in a long time but did pull 500 for a pretty easy single about a month back.

It was something I wrote myself. It consisted of deadlifting twice a week. Triples for a ton of sets on the first day, and heavier (but less volume) doubles on the second day. Then I gradually reduced the volume as the weight got heavier. I’m pretty proud of this one because I was able to hit every single rep and set and I wrote this thing 14+ weeks back

So front squat carried over or not much

@liftangryordie500 hah if only my deadlift was 400lbs higher :frowning:

@guineapig I would feel that a 550 pull would be out of reach without some form of squatting. That being said they really didn’t carry over as much as I thought they would. My high bar squat didn’t really improve too much. The day after high bar squats the glutes and even the quads were pretty sore so it looks like a lot of areas were underworked in general. I might recommend doing them for more than a month or two to mix it up, but not any longer than that if you actually want to progress in the squat/deadlift

Maybe after a bit of back squatting you’ll see benefits. Still early days. But yeh I think if I was to incorporate front squats I’d still have some back squats if my goal was to up the back squat

@guineapig yea maybe it’s still too early to see the real benefits. We’ll see what happens but I’d like a 405 high bar atg squat by september ideally. Squatting 2-3x a week so volume won’t be an issue.

Deload day for deads, tried pulling with my back more locked in. Felt terrible as expected but I’m wondering if I should train with this technique until the meet. How much carry-over does it have to my grip and rip pull?
