Routine Question

Hello everyone.

I have a quick question about my workout, which just doesnt seem to make sense to me. To start, the only gym I have access to only has cables and machines for me to work with. I know this isn’t ideal, but it is all I have.

My question has to do with my bench press (on a machine). I can typically do 3x6 of 130lbs. This seems to be very low to me. As I believe it, the bench press’s major muscles used are triceps and chest. For triceps, I do Tricep Pushdowns (with a straight bar on the cables) and am able to do 3x8 of 150lbs. For chest I do Cable Crossovers, with 3x8 of 80lbs/hand.

From my viewpoint, my bench press seems to be noticibly lacking. Is there something I am missing? Are the exercises I do for my triceps and chest just easier than the bench, therefor leading to me lifting more with them? Thank you for your help everyone.

Missing??

Asdie from the fact that your shoulders are also a prime mover in the bench press and you use your lats, bi’s etc as stabilizers. The only thing Im thinking is you cant bank or trust the #'s on machines just aim to do Better than you did prior.

Meaning you might do 130 on that particular bench machine. Go to another gym and a differnet machine you may do 160.
