I just saw Ronnie’s interview from the LA Fit Expo last weekend on RX Muscle and right now he says that he’s gonna do the O this year. He also says he hasn’t been training for about the last 3 months and he’s gonna start back to his heavy training that he used to do.
I know a lot of people don’t want him to comeback and think he should stay in retirement but I think that the guy is so damn entertaining in everything that he does that having him comeback can’t be a bad thing. Plus the dude looked damn big for a) being retired and b) not training for the last 3 months. Although I am with what DP said - not training for that long of a peroid of time would drive me crazy.
Ronnie always took a big chunk of time off from training after each Olympia win. Remember that Ronnie has probably the best genetics ever, and by now, he’s got a damn good understanding of what he can endure. Obviously some sort of nerve impingement is beyond his control, but if he’s indeed healed, and fully recovered, I see not reason why he couldn’t get into contest shape.
Sure, maybe not his top form (even Ronnie ages), but I still think an in shape Coleman can be a top 5 guy,… and if not, I’m certainly not one to hate on the man, his love of training and competing is so evident that you can’t help but like the guy.

He’s lost a huge amount of strength with all this nerve problem business and taking it easy in training etc, but he’s still very large.
If he does make a comeback, then I hope he’ll surprise people by coming in as a top 3 guy or so… Or even retaking the title… After what Cutler did last year, there is at least a small chance of that happening… I would kind of like to see that happen, to be honest.
The new guys are all great etc, but you know… Ronnie is still the man, and one victory or second place before his final retirement would be cool.
I just don’t foresee him in the top 3. Not legitimately, anyway.
However, making history sells! If Ronnie could pull off a victory in '10, then he joins the elite group of dudes who reclaimed the title (Arnold and Franco).
I’m not always confident of the honesty of competition. Hell, there was at least one Olympia that should have gone to Flex, Not Ronnie.
Anyway, like CC just said Coleman would have to pull off a Jay-like transformation to even place top 3.

Well, in his case (as well with Arnold’s reclaiming of the title), the victory was highly questionable. IMHO, Franco should have at most placed under Danny Padilla (who, IMHO should have won the title).

so is jay more elite than him because jay managed to reclaim the title? he has 8 mr. o’s; he’s as elite as it gets. he is a goofball though so if he comes in bloated and soft it may just be kind of silly.
Once you win an O, you can compete for as long as you want. Samir abused this option way to long in my opinion. When I first started reading the muscle rags, I had no clue that this old dude who couldn’t even crack the top 10 was a former Mr. O. I don’t think Ronnie will go that route, but there’s a big difference between a legend who won 8 times and set new standards for sheer size, and some dude from the 80’s who lucked out with one win before Haney shoved him aside.

I used that term loosely here, Fed. lol Seriously… I never liked Cutler. But damn if he didn’t look spectacular in 09! He deserved that one. He became a bodybuilder’s bodybuilder.
