I was able to get in and see my ART guy yesterday. He thinks I have a slight tear or good strain on my one of my serratus/scapula muscles. He worked on my shoulder, back, serratus, neck and trap.
Several of the spots he hit were very painfull, and I’m almost positive that is where I am injured. He did not think it was that severe. I am going to see him again on Wend and take it from there. Looks like I may be able to start lifing again on sat or next monday, so that is positive.
On a side note, I just saw they were holding the NAS national champs in vegas this year, so now I have to find a way to qualify for that.

Good news it is not to severe,
I saw that to, looks like a hell of a time. Depending on my $$$ at that time I might make the trip, Don’t know about qualifying though, I’ll just keep eating and getting stronger and see what happens.

How are you supposed to browse the ass worship thread now? lol
-Worked up to 275x1(pr) in Back squats (note to self: never front squat and then back squat on back-to-back days…that is all) went for 295 but had to dump it at the bottom ending up in a comedic crash of almost 300 lbs of metal into more metal. People stared, I chuckled and good times were had by all.
-3 sets of Reverse Hypers
-4 sets of grip stuff
-4 sets of DB Lunges
I hate back squatting. I can deadlift like 100+ lbs more than I can squat; I am just not built to be a champion squatter; my leverages are all wrong for it. Reaching 275 was epic today. I went for it right after 225…nope…dumped it. Then I did an astoundingly easy 245 and 265 and said ‘F*ck this, I am doing 275.’ So I did it.
Unfortunatley, my knees caved a little. I suspect weak glutes are the cause. I have made my lower back strong over the past 6 weeks by really hammering it with reverse hypers. Now it’s time to do some lunges and glute-hams (if I can find/rig up something).
My weakness in the squat is right at the bottom. When I fire out of the hole, it’s easy. I lead up with my chest. 295 didn’t crush me down like an accordian so I know it’s not my abs that were weak. Also, I was watching me sled-drag on film from this past weekend. My ass was hella-high. Yeah…we will need to work that tooshie.
Enjoy some of my groups training efforts. All I can say is, I train with some pretty strong dudes who know a thing or two :).
front squats and back squats in back to back days is bad!
How I improved my squat was by uh, squating alot, lol I am also short with short legs so squating comes naturally to me, not that my squat is all impressive but it is about par with my other lifts.
I did a couple weeks of the 20 rep squat program doing 20 rep squats 3x a week and I gained an inch on legs and good amount of strength.
Good luck man got to hit the weakpoints if you think you suck at squatting you should probaly do it more!
I know I should, plus squating 400lbs ass to grass would be cool.
Seated flat bench Overhead lockout, right above head
130 5x3 (10lbs more than last week I think)
Pushups
x20
x15
Good solid workout, I need to not think so much when I lift I am a nitpicker and thinking to much about techinque, form, etc makes me miss some lifts I should get, 225 is right around the coroner! 190 snapped up 200 was a little harder mainly from my freakin misses!
Note to self: work on techinque on lighter sets and none ME days just F’ing lift it on ME days

Nice work and good call on the just lift part ive been very guilty of that myself wanting setup etc to be spot on over thinking it. actually leading to misses just lift on me day think after it and inn sessions prior etc.
Very cool thread fellas. I have gotten back into the heavy lifting since the start of theis year (had tendenitis in right elbow last yeay and had about 4 months off)and this sight and this thread have given me a lot of insperation. I come to work and read the site a bit during the day and can’t wait to get to the gym by the afternoon.
I have lifted weights on an off to varying degrees for about 10 years and have competed in powerliftin back in 2001. Since then I have been doing a lot more fitness training and have let my weight training slide to some extent.
My goal now is to combine a bit of powerlifting, body building and strongman type training for over all strength. I am on my last heavy/low rep week and then next week its back to high reps for a new cycle. I will have to try squatting again, as I havent squated for over a year due to a knee injury.

Just got around to watching the vids, right on seems like a good group, I was wondering what you meant by a spotter on the tire flip, thats a pretty cool idea. Also the sled drag with the person sitting on the sled was interesting, not enough plates? lol
Is there a seat on the sled?

Here a couple of my recent lifts.
Bench Press 105kg X 3 reps
Deadlift (sumo style) 150kg X 2
Power Clean 80 kg X 1
Push press 70 kg X 5
Bent over Row 85 kg X 5

Glad to hear someone enjoys and learns something from this thread, it has really motivated me and I think helped me progress alot, Keep it up try to establish some firm goals and work towards that. I didn’t make as much progress when I was trying to chase a bunch of diffrent goals at once, sense I have decided on strongman as my Primary goal my training has improved greatly.
Yeah dude, there is a sort of seat on the sled Josh has. We have about six or seven plates and a bunch of quarters, nickles and dimes and so on.
As you can see, I am improving week-to-week but I still need to get stronger. I hate being the weakest of the bunch, but guess what. I am not gonna stay weak, that’s for damn sure.
In the gym I hit three very easy doubles with 155 on clean and push-press whereas before 150 was a bit harder. That tells me my form is coming along.
I also was able to take 300 down into the hole before dumping it without getting crushed which tells me my core is getting stronger. And this time, I was sure I was past parallel whereas my previous best 265 was somewhat iffy.
Now it’s just a matter of working on my weaknesses and just getting stronger. You can be sure I am not gonna quit. I have too much yet I want to accomplish before I am done.
My eventual goal is to compete at Ontario’s Strongest Man and place. From there when I do that, who knows. Like the song says: push it to the limit, past the point of no return.
Hell yeah, Thats what I’m talking about.
Yup you have been making good progress keep it up, I am also the weakest guy at our training sesisons, makes you try harder!
What weight class do you want to end up competing in? HW? Maybe we will compete against each other in a couple of years.
-Log: worked up to 170 (with a bit of a spot at the 90ish degree mark)
-Farmers: did really crappy…don’t wanna talk about it
-Tire: did a couple assisted flips
-backwards sled: a bunch of passes etc.
Shittiest training day in a long time. Blah. I don’t even really wanna post this but for posterity’s sake…
-Clean to Power jerk: worked up to 175 for a single
-Three single continental cleans with 185 (I missed 185 on the power jerk)
-4x2 Clean Pulls (two with 205, two with 225)
-5 sets clean grip Front squats onto 15" bench…115x3, 135x3, 155x3, 2x1x175
-2x8 Cable woodchoppers w/ 5 second hold each rep
-3 sets of Seated rack lockouts with a massive 115x3, 120x3 and 125x2
-3 sets of Cable pulldown abs supersetted with 3 sets of rear delt/upper back stuff
-1 set of 20 BW rev hypers for pre-hab
-3x3 Plyometrics
Much better workout today. My 185 continentals felt easy and I think I might’ve gotten as much as 200. The 185 power jerk I missed this week I think will come up next week; I just missed the lockout and I think as I get more comfortable, the weights will fly up.
Changed it up this week didnt continue with my DL routine I will get back to it next week, I think I am coming down with a cold/sore throat the volume would have not worked very well!
I contest I am thinking of doing in June has a 450lb axle DL for reps (18")
so I decided to test where im at in this.
Rack pulls with axle about 18 1/2-18 3/4" off ground bottom positon in pins
190x5
280x3
370x1
440x1
Switched to my bent ass olympic bar as I could tell I was going to bend my cheap homemade axle.
455x1
505x1(PR!)
525x1(big PR)
Last time I did rack pulls i worked up to a 500lb pull from 3 pins up so this was nice probaly could get 600+ at the 3rd pin now I think.
Finally found a event that is good to be short for. At 5’6 1/2" 18" is right at my knees, lol.
1 arm DB Row
85x5
100x5
100x5
Looks like a short workout but it somehow took almost 1 1/2 hours
-Box Squats: Worked up to 245x1, missed 275, then hit 2x1x245 & 2x1x225
-Rev Hypers ss w/ Seated Cable Rows: 3 sets each, worked up to 240 for cable rows and 50 lb DB for hypers
-4 sets of Grip work & 1 triple drop-set of hammer curls (40, 35, 30)
