-Stone lifting: picked up and extended small stone 4 times for 2 sets and loaded stone without lapping :). Just chalk…no tacky. Was able to get the big sucker off the ground a bit but couldn’t lap it.
-Axle clean and press: worked up to 190lb pr :D…Dropped down for some reps with lighter weights. Hit a 205 continental clean…but with spotter assitence so it doesn’t count.
-Farmer’s walk: 200 ft w/ 110 per hand…165 per hand for 200 ft w/ two drops…no chalk…chalked up and belt…spotter assisted 220 lb and went about 5 feet and dropped…picked up again and went another 5 or 6 feet…then duck walked one the the implements back to the gay-raj and called it a day.
Soooo, that axle clean and press was really cool. After the Barbarian Cheiftan (Josh) corrected my form on the power clean, I was able to push press than 190 up on the third attempt from my chest. Also, loading the small stone without lapping it was cool and unexpected. Sweet Jesus, chalk makes a big difference ! I disovered that one today. Gotta work next weekend so no strongman :S.
Good job man, did you powerclean that 190? I suck at powercleans with the axle damn small hands!
keep it up

-Push Press: worked up to 175, dropped some weight and did three singles.
-9x2 Speed Pulls…did 3 each of 135, 155 and 175.
-Three sets o’ 5 barbell millitaries
-2 sets of BW parallel-bar dips
-4 sets of upper-back stabilzer schtuff
-4 sets of core
Ok, that 190 wasn’t a fluke apparently. My delts were hit extra hard today as I have no events on saturday this week to worry over. Mmm feel the burn.
And I have huge hands which make the axle work easier. Good lord but push pressing 190 felt good.
My wrist is still real sore and my wrist wraps wont be here tell late in the week probaly.
Ive been trying to think of what kind of exerices I could do untill then?
I can do back squats, good mornings, etc but any sort of pressing I think will cause more harm than good.
Maybe double overhand deads? I dont know just trying to get some ideas so I dont miss another week of training.
-Deadlifts: worked up to 335x1(pr)
-8x3x95 DE Power Cleans
-3 sets of grip work
-3 sets of Hammer leg press (worked up to 5 plates a side…there was no more room on the damn thing
The deadlift max for the day was a little sloppy as it came away from my shins for a second. I thought I was gonna have to drop it. I was gonna do Zercher squats, but some idiot-box personal trainer decided his client needed the rack to front squat the bar…yes…the bar. And it was a guy and he was neither 90 years old nor 100lbs soaking wet.
Why the leg presses, you probably are wondering ? Honestly, I am getting a bit tired of front squatting all the time. I need some vareity. I normally hate the leg press and most machines as they’re just a sissy’s substitution for squats. But eh, if I had to front squat today, I swear I would have gone crazy and killed someone from the sheer monotony of doing the same thing.

That’s all for now, folks.
Much love,

BroI wouldnt hate on the leg press to much I kow it hits muscle on me that get ignored big time from my squatting etc and cause major DOMS etc Its a good TOOL and allows some load and a nice break for your back etc. No replacement for squatting etc but a good tool

How much different is the power clean/push-press with the axel vs. the olympic barbell. My PR is 205 lbs. power clean/push press raw @205 lbs BW.

for me it is alot harder, due to the larger size, less/no knurling and the fact that the bar is solid with no bearings so you cant just flick your wrist and move the bar, you are moving the entire weight.
You can make an axle for about 30 bucks with no welding with some metal

The big difference tends to be grip. It feels better in my hands, for some reason. Must be my huge mitts. I dunno, it felt smoother, to me, even despite setting a PR.

IMO the clean difference is HUGE for me around 90lbs different from BB to axle ive only just begun using the axle and its a different monster to grip a 2.5 inch bar. The Press on them I dont fell is that muich different, Now the log thats aanother story.
Thanks for all the input guys. I guess I will just have to see for myself, but im sure it will be awkward at first till I get used to it. My first strongman event its Feb 24., no axle lifts though.
-worked up to plates a side on Hammer chest-supported row for 6reps
-4 trips of like 60-80 feet with 100lb DB…immitation farmer’s walks, yo !
-Worked up to 145 clean and pushpress with tricep bar. I cleaned the 155 bar twice but couldn’t lockout the damn thing. Dropped some weight for some OH reps after I hit arms.
-2 sets each of biceps and triceps
-2 sets of upper back stabilizer stuff
-4 sets of standing pulley crunches
So I did some rows and was like ‘F**k it, I am doing events one way or the other’. I attempted to use the cambered bar, 5 foot bar and triceps bar for the farmer’s but that didn’t work. I already miss the damn FW handles and log.
Man, did I get some strange looks. I just settled for the biggest DBs in the haus. The weights felt weird compared to the farmer’s handles and I dropped em a few times. I KNOW I can do more that 100 lbs. I have taken 165 for 100 feet, no chalk just last week.
The triceps bar sucks for cleaning. I am sure with the log I could’ve cleaned and pressed 160-170 today. I wasted lots of energy in cleaning it. I mostly did OH reps today. Did I mention I miss the log ? I’d even settle for a damn tire to work on flipping. I hate tire flips btw (which tells me I need to work on them).

Hey bro nice wiork really DB’s are MUCH harder than farmers the load doesnt just pull down it trys to roll in your hands.
We were both really sore after this weeks workouts. Started with some clean and jerk, ended up going heavy. I destroyed 270, then failed on the clean at 290, and 3 times at 280. I was pissed. Beau smoked 300, he had tons more in the tank.
Then we hit some stones, just did sets of 3 with the 300lb’er. We had wanted to do more work but someone threw away our tacky!
Didn’t do pics today, tried some videos. I’m open to critique on the clean, as it was so close.
-DB Neutral-grip pushpress: worked up to 60lbs, dropped the weight and hit a couple sets for reps
-DB Floor Press: 40x10, 50x10, 60x6
-10x2 DE Front Squats
-2 sets bent crucifix laterals, 2 sets face-pulls
-4 sets of core/abs
I didn’t feel like hitting anything too overly hard. I have learned the hard way to listen to my body. That was the first time I have ever done floor presses; I like them.
