Depth is fine, great work and congrats on the PB
My goal is a 405 squat olympic style too. Best I did was 340x3 and 315x7. Best front squat is 300. It’s no wrap, no belt squat BTW, u should with those low numbers
at 175.
I’ll go on a modified Westside program to bring that up, hopefully before the end of the year.

Then what happens the first time in life you have to lift up something heavy and you havent got a belt, why not simply bring a security blanket to the gym.
If a guy lifts in competitions, then he should use whatever equipment is permissable in that comp. But none of my clients compete in comps outside PTC, where I dont allow any equipment, so why train in it.
If a 16yo weighing 147lb can squat 320lb without a belt, anyone can. He has NEVER worn a belt, so he doesnt know any better. My wife competed in National Powerlifting Competition, so I have wraps, suits, shirts and belts in my gym, its no big deal if he wants to try them, he is simply not interested, he just wants to know what HE can lift.
I have new clients come in with their belts, and I dont let them wear them. The rule is if your not lifting the most weight in the gym, then you dont need equipment. I have Record Boards up in the gym, so everyone can see what the most weight lifted is. The best squat is 475lb, best deadlift is 585lb, both without a belt.
My 16yo is the only lifter to do double bodyweight squats and 1 1/2 times bodyweight x 20 squats, all without a belt. Anyone doing less than that is kidding himself if he’s wearing a belt.[/quote]
Lol to that… when’s the last time you had to pick something up in the real world which was elevated to approx 225mm with weight evenly distributed along a metal bar?? I’m all for this “functionality” but seriously, when was the last time you pick something up off the ground on your that was over 300lb?
We get it tho, you don’t like belts. I think you’ve made a big point of saying it in nearly every post thus far ![]()
finally a race i can join!
my best was a 315x5
maybe 6 or 7 months? maybe 9 …we’ll see how things go.
6’ft
215
21 years
Got 385 today.
I want 400.

Good man.
Be sure to keep us updated on further development.
I’m looking for 375 this sunday.
backsquat
325x4 (4rm PR +10 pounds)
Seems like this is taking off.
I haven’t squatted much in the last two weeks due to my knee which is feeling a lot better. I might squat tomorrow in training.
Paying more attention to my lower back strength and hamstrings is paying off. I hit 315 for 2.
Question time. Does anyone else find that trying to stop right at parallel?. Its harder for me to stop at parallel than it is for me to go ass to hams. I dont get it at all but does anyone else have this problem?.
I meant. Does anyone else find that trying to stop right at parallel is harder than going ass to hams.
I fucked that last post up.

I find that with front squats but not at all with back squats.
I just can’t really go much past parallel with back squats anyway so stopping at parallel is normal to me.
I can’t give a proper explanation as to why you feel that way either.
But I’ll give my theory, I think it just has to do with stopping the weight.
If you can go deeper than parallel than that means you have to stop 315 lbs.
Where as if you go to depth then you “bounce” so to speak from the bottom.
That’s my guess, if anyone has a better explanation then shoot.
Also congrats on the PR.
Should try to get a vid of it.
My best squat is 335 at 145 im going for 405 by the end of the year(school)
Did 305x3, 315x3 and 325x2 yesterday.
Nailed 385 again, attempted 400 and got stuck on the way back up, failed.
Soon I will get it.
I went for squat max again yesterday and warming up I got a 305 triple then just said “not today”
definitely didn’t feel nearly as strong as i should. Wasn’t gonna be breaking any PRs
That session was a mess ![]()
DixiesFinest: Too bad man, though it sounds like your not far off.
CPerfringens: Was that a PR? Do you know your 1RM?
Good luck buddy!
I was at 180kg @ 86kg. Then punched out 187kg @ 90kg evening weight.
I don’t squat to parallel/ a bit below so it will be harder simply by the fact your leg muscles aren’t use to stopping and reversing at that particular angle. Remember your only strong to the angles your use to doing. +/- either side by about 15degrees.
I’m chasing 200kg after the British Champs and then on to 220kg by the end of the year? I rarely maxed my back squat since last year so felt bad ass to get 187kg. I had no real schedule, just squat heavy 4’s for front and back squats.
Koing
Attempting 395 today, we will see how that goes.

good job
I missed that weight about 3 months ago
(I just squatted for the first time since 4/25; 235 felt like a frikkin’ Prius on my back)
325x6 yesterday for me. getting there! good work everyone, keep it up.
