Rising From the Ashes (CL)

ChickenLittle, it is crazy news coming out of Texas these days - hope you are still doing ok?

Your forecast reads more like ours in NH. Hope you’re doing ok and the plants survive the cold.

Finally! Power back on, phone back on. It’s been a long week but we made it! If my pump will thaw out we will be good. Hard to keep things from freezing at 0 degrees when the heat lamp has no power :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Thanks PG. We were more prepared than most. I went and bought extra propane and packed a lot of wood so were warmer than a lot of people.

0°F Monday night. 73°F today. Jed actually got a slight sunburn in his trampoline :smirk:
73 degres in 6 days that may be a record for here.

I’m a little late, but I hope you and your family are warm, CL!

There’s an old song called Don’t Worry About the Mule (just load the wagon) this is one of my mom’s favorite sayings. I think it applies here.

There is just no way I am going to be able to commit to a program right now, so the Kroc plan will have to wait. I just need to have fun with lifting right now to burn off the crazy.

I have trees down, fence to be fixed, garden to plant, etc… If I have time to lift great, if not I am not going to beat myself up over it. I mentioned last fall about a big deal I had in the works and though it is taking longer than expected I believe it is going to happen. Cross your fingers.

All that being said. I did get the water back on, found a fitting at the grocery store yesterday to get my washer up and running, cut up the broken tree that fell on the dog run. So… Imma working on it.

I put a plant update in the vegetable garden thread.

75-80% survival rate. Which I am happy with.

@oldergoat you may have strawberries after all. Looks like they weathered the storm pretty well.

That is absolutely incredible! I’d always thought strawberries are very fragile

The fruit is but the plants themselves are pretty tough.

Thanks OG! Not counting any chickens before they hatch, but looks promising.

Good to see that you still find time (and energy) to get some sets in.

Thanks OG!
My chest knows I did them today anyway…lol Nothing awful but it’s been a while.

We are not fully recovered but well on the way. Still have lots to clean up but power and water are functioning so that makes it easier. A small community to the southwest of us still have no power. The storm broke over 2,000 power poles
