Yep! Got it all together. I had to put an extra piece of stove pipe in it to get the stove out in the open and I am not getting a real good draw. It will have to do for now. I am working in adverse conditions and it’s functional, so I am calling it good enough. We won’t freeze but may smell like brisket
Hunker down. Your weathers headed our way. Freezing rain all night and ain’t gettin above freezing tomorrow. I Left a couple hundred pounds of wood in the bed of the truck and added 4 80# bags of sand for some traction in case I got to go out. The frozen roads don’t much bother me as much as bubba who thinks cause he’s got a big truck, watches NASCAR, and wears an old #3 hat he can drive in anything.
This one is pretty nasty with all the freezing rain. The snow is absolute powder though. Rare in central Texas.
That’s my feelings exactly. I am well seasoned in driving in adverse conditions but the locals not so much. The state highway to my has is shut down because there have been so many wrecks they can’t get them off the road
When I was in Eygpt, Kuwait, Iraq, Sudan, etc. the new guys would arrive and wonder why we had field jackets in the tents. Eygpt was the worse, 115f days and down to 50’s f at night. Not a bit of moisture in the air.
Wow. A 60* difference is more than I’ve ever experienced. The biggest change I’ve been in was around 45* F, but that was in the Rocky Mountains here in New Mexico and expected.
The heat doesn’t surprise me. We have years where it barely reaches freezing during the winter, then other winters that are surprisingly chilly. Spring, summer, and fall are always hot or very warm, often into the 80s in October.
Someone in another thread mentioned you’re a retired PJ. If you don’t mind me asking, did you ever know or work with John Tobey, Leif Arvidson, or Eric Gregory?
Well I guess our difference is in season change. Here in Quebec near Montreal we get solid -30oC in winter to well above +30oC in summer. Some times we get large change in 24hrs like 20 to 25oC but not a regular feature.
I know someone in Austin that was w/o power for 18 hours. Supposedly Austin got “preferential” power treatment due to being the capital city. Fortunately for her, she had a big furry dog to keep her company, and also to keep her warm!
It was undoubtedly worse where you are. Hope you’re doing alright.
We’ve had our longest stretch of cold in 30 years up here. The high today was in the 20s finally. We’ll break 32 tomorrow or Saturday for the first time in two weeks. And then it’ll be damn near 60 next week. An 80 degree swing in two weeks. Why not?
