Riding the Line Between BBing & PLing

Wow will be most interesting to follow !

With your strength and lifting experience, leaning down and gaining muscle will be impressive.

So we will one day see you without your “powerlifting coat” nice lol

Good Luck !

so are you gonna look like dave gulledge all cut up?

standing alternating dumbell curs- see i told you… i’m doing some bodybuilding training. haven’t done these in many moons. i was suprised at how light the 80’s felt. i guess this powerlifting stuff has made me stronger.
40’s x 6
60’s x 6
80’s x 6

superset cable wrist curls and standing calf raises

some x some x 5

Ohohohoho… You’re never going to hear the end of this from me.

Bring on the smith machine, baby!

I’m just curious why you’re doing the divebomb style rather then getting your grip set tight. Is it to take advantaqge of the stretch reflex?

Are you aiming to get a geared elite total raw at 242?

there are a few reasons-

  1. i think too much before i pull. i need to just do it.
You’re still standing around looking like a scared little girl (with a beard and a big-ass keg for a torso) for a minute before the lift, as usual, though. Well, maybe next time.
You could always cheat and have someone activate the camera a second before the actual lift
2. i’m still too “thick” to set my grip and get into position. that’s the main reason that i pull sumo. i can drop into position. i’ve found that when i set my grip and then try to get into position, the weight gets out in front of me and my hips come up too fast.
  3. stretch reflex is used to it’s fullest this way.

sure… why not:)

Best of luck, MM. I’m sure many of us will be following your progress with interest. I’m especially curious how well you will do with keeping your lifts up, despite being on a caloric deficit.

i think my squat and dead will actually improve. the only life that may be a struggle is the bench, but i have a pretty good bench already.

i’m hoping that i’ll have more energy and stamina as i shed some LB’s. I feel great so far. i’m definitely going to do this slow and hopefully swop mass for fat as much as possible.
I’d actually expect your squat to go down (no belly to help in the hole), deadlift to go up (no belly in the way anymore lol) and bench… Come on man, you can’t be a decent bodybuilder upwards of 240 and not have a nice bench.

Mighty curious as to how things will actually turn out for you, strength-wise.

Interesting that you think bench is harder to keep up on a caloric deficit than the other lifts. I wonder why that is? It might explain why my chest is lagging behind my other lifts during the summer months.

I’m not meat, but I have noticed the same thing as he (squats/deads don’t suffer too much in a cut, but bench does). RE: squatting - if you drop 10 lbs, that’s 10 lbs less you have to squat back up (or close to it). I also hypothesize that dropping fat (of which a good portion will come from abs in men) takes some strain off your core, thereby allowing it to handle more weight. Just a theory, though.

The same 2 apply to deads, although I think to a much lesser degree.
Hm, you’re probably on to something here. My CGP went down like crazy a year or so ago when I was down to 270 from 292, though my gym situation etc was shit as well and it was not exactly a weight-loss I had actually planned

The good thing about it all: My curls didn’t go down much, so I was still a happy bodybuilder.

Be a man and introduce high rep deadlifts as well. If I had to do them for years and suffer, so should you.

Good luck with your cut, brother, and stay free of injuries!

I figure that once you drop all that fat and stop wearing 5 long-sleeves over each other, you’ll be able to step on stage as a hamsterweight and finally beat nominal prospect…

Meat, does this mean your trading in the Mantard
for gold spangly briefs???

hair removal is expansive too.

Either way you train hard as hell, Im sure you’ll
find the happy medium that works best.
thanks for all the advice.

i plan to wear my banana hammock under my mantard. hopefully i don’t get called for illegal equipment.

i don’t even want to think about the hair removal that will have to take place at some point. i’ll need a full body sized piece of wax strip

thanks bro. i’m very happy to help.

Sweetness! Do it to it, scott! I’ll be reading with interest.
