Ya, in the end your are responsible for YOU…and no one said that you were just going to go off and jump into bed with the guy, sheesh!
Back to the other concern you had…would it kinda make sense that you noticed you were more tired ever since you started carb cycling? Maybe your body is still adjusting to that, or maybe it’s not going to work for you…
So far I have learned that you have to figure out what works for YOU(just like that guy, lol) Not everything you read about or hear people doing can we apply to ourselves…And if it turns out you get MORE food to function then YAY for you!!

It’s hard for me to relate it all back to this because the time I started my carb-cycling is also the time that I started working horrendous hours. For the first two weeks of my new diet I was averaging 12-14 hour days in front of a computer and everything else in my life was suffering.
I woke up early and refreshed this morning. Heading to the gym shortly. Hoping that this 4 day weekend, while busy (but extremely enjoyable) will help me be refreshed going into this next short work week.
Thought I would also mention that I’m currently hating the guy I trained with yesterday. I already have DOMS like you wouldn’t believe. Hey Todd - maybe my push will improve yet

You may have struggled but it didn’t look like it.
You’ve got a ton of drive and I admire that you stick with it even when everything in you is just spent. Too many of us slack off or become complacent or make excuses until we snap out of it. I don’t see you doing that.
Have you read the advice DD gave in Betty’s log about temprature and the thyroid gland? Maybe that could be a quick and easy way to alleviate that concern?

Maybe.
Assuming you’re eating enough and not spending all your time doing NEPA (aka chasing boys). Your metabolism must be through the roof!!

Thanks MsM. That is an amazing compliment and definitely a post I will read when I’m having a ‘bleh’ day/week. 225 is coming and I can’t wait

You already like him, so I don’t think just dropping him is the answer. Take what people say into consideration, but follow your own judgement.
Suck it Todd.
Had quite the long weekend! Yesterday I had an early gym training session then went to Canada’s Wonderland. SUCH a great time! Then came back to the city, ate dinner, swam, sat in a hottub and stayed up far too late considering technically today is a workday. My leg session was as follows:
A. Back Squats - 2x175x4, 2x185x4, 1x185x6 (I decided to try pushing it…twas fun)
B. Deadlifts - I moved to 4x6 instead of 4x8 and it helped tremendously cuz my grip was much better. 115x6, 3x135x6.
I didn’t do my step-ups or extensions because I was already late to be meeting people and was about to walk for 6.5 hours. I think I made up for it lol.
I forgot to mention that last Friday I unracked 225. When I first unracked 205 I was shocked by how heavy it felt so we’re trying to get me used to what 225 feels like so that’s not my limiting factor. I’ll unrack 235 and 245 before Monday.
Today is an off-gym day, however I have volleyball later tonight…if I decide to show my face and go. I had a series of incidents yesterday that have resulted in my lower right lip being super swollen. Like not wanting to be seen in public swollen. It’s quite embarassing actually.
Hey Court, I don’t really have much to say except that I read your posts religiously and love your rants! You’re a bit ahead of me in the fitness game and it is nice to see how you keep progressing and have a visible example to aspire to. So thanks for being an inspiration!
Okie, here we go… I’m kind of like a giddy little school girl these days so I’ve been in a pretty great mood. My chest still hurts like a mofo…thanks buddy
Went and did pull this afternoon. I’m working from home again today because I had physio and I also still feel pretty self-conscious about my swollen face. It’s looking better though lol. Here it was:
A. WG Assissted Pull Ups - 4x5
B. BB Rows - 4x8 - 70lbs. 80lbs is too heavy, 70 just a little on the easy side, so I upped my reps from 6 to 8.
C1. Upright row - 3x8 - 30lbs
C2. 1 Arm DB Row - 3x8 - 22.5lbs. I switched to this because my Rear Lateral raises had been bugging me and I have volleyball tonight.
D. Cable Curl - 2x6/12/25 - 50/25/15lbs, 50/20/10lbs
It was a quickie and a goodie. Left there and went to physio. He made me almost cry again, however he says my hips are moving better than they have been. Just keep on foam rolling…
I play volleyball tonight (hoping not to get packed in the face), tomorrow, and am in a tournament on Saturday. Going to do hypertrophy legs tomorrow. Woohoo!!! LOVE leg days

Thanks Anj! Glad I can help you And I’m glad you’re entertained by my rants. I put them here because I feel sometimes my friends are sick of me bitching about it… they don’t quite get my frustration with people curling in the squat rack and they don’t understand how difficult it was for me to not kick the swiss ball out from under the clown’s feet.
Since nobody squats at my school, I took the liberty to do my entire routine in the squat rack yesteday - which included curling. I thought of you. Hopefully I’ve gained some of your hate. Have a great day =D

We’re no longer friends. Seriously. How could you do that to me? After everything I’ve done for you… like send you pictures of pancakes! I thought you were better than that! Sigh. If there was ever any doubt in anyone’s mind, Bartl is clearly my favorite. He doesn’t curl in the squat rack.
=====================
Played volleyball last night. We went 3-1. I played really well too. Almost got packed in the face again. I swear I’m a ball magnet. I managed to turn and took it off the shoulder instead. The ball was out but it was an attempted get out of the way/don’t get hit in the face. Legs tonight. I’m excited
I was in a really shitty mood on my drive home tonight. But I decided that after having such a spectacular leg workout and my volleyball team going 4-0 that I’d steal a line from someone I know: “I’m over it.”
I figured since it’s going to be my last hypertrophy leg session (because I’m moving to a new program after I squat 225 on Monday - confidence baby) that I’d make it a good one:
A. Front Squats - 4x10-12 90s - 12x115, 11x115, 12x105, 11x105
B. Lunges - 4x10-12/leg 60s - 4x12x20lbs
C1. Leg Press - 3x8 0s - 8x130, 8x140, 8x140
C2. Leg Curl - 3x8 45s - 3x8x105
D1. Hyperextensions - 2x20 0s - 2x20x10lbs
D2. Leg Extensions - 2x30 45s - 2x30x45
Well needless to say, I really couldn’t walk afterwards. I upped my weight or reps on everything and had shakey legs after every exercise. I think after lunges it was the worst.
I biked for 20 minutes while watching So You Think You Can Dance trying to get some feeling back in my legs. Mission was half-accomplished.
Then, I almost punched a guy in the face as I was leaving. It was either punch him or tell him off. I decided to do neither. I was the bigger person and walked away
Went to volleyball and we won all 4 games. I played mediocre at best. Wasn’t really into it, was pretty quiet and when I’m quiet and pissed off, I pretty much suck. But again, I’m over it.
Tomorrow’s just a cardio day… I’m playing 9 hours of volleyball on Saturday so it will just be some light cardio to make sure everything’s feeling alright for Saturday. My team should have a good shot at winning and we want it!

Great workout, Court. Why’d you want to hit the guy?

Well this is a guy who I think the saying “Who needs enemies with friends like him” was coined for. He’s not MY friend but he decided to bad mouth someone I care about to me, rather loudly, near the front desk of our gym. And not just bad mouth, but call into question this person’s character. Just before he referred to this person as his best friend. Wow. I wish my best friend would say things like that about me behind my back. End of sarcasm.
As an aside, my legs are already killing me. It feels fantastic. Need to bike, foam roll and stretch tonight so I’m good to go for my tournament tomorrow.
MsM wrote:
Where is your tournament? Forgive me if I missed that.
Sounds like you’re healing up well.
That is a killer front squat, btw…for 11 reps too.
My tourney is only about 30min from my house. So just a day trip. Hoping the weather holds up. We’ve had some wicked thunderstorms almost every day almost the entire summer lol.
I’m feeling tons better. Doing a lot more mobility work and having my physio beat me up has really helped. I feel like I can get deep in all my squats and don’t hit that wall I was hitting before where my hips were telling me no.
LOL thanks re: front squat. I was pissed off at myself because my limiting factor yesterday was finding a decent place to hold it. I tried my usual grip, I tried crossing my arms in front, I just couldn’t get it right. My collarbone actually feels slightly bruised today. I wanted to do all 4 sets at 115lbs just for Sayjin.
Not sure if I mentioned it before, but I start a new program after I hit 225 that doesn’t have any back or front squats for a few weeks. Let my spine love me and let me grow a few more inches haha. If I can’t find motivation to hit 225 elsewhere, knowing I get a new program will be it. I’ve been struggling and bored for the last few weeks. Can’t wait for a change
