Kind of a stupid question, but when you row, where on your torso are you bringing the bar up to?
I’ve heard through most of my life that there is no such thing as a stupid question. Many times I don’t believe this, but since you don’t see me at the gym and I’ve never mentioned it, this certainly does not qualify as stupid

I’m basicaly bent over so my torso is as close to parallel as I can get it (which isn’t all that close, I’ll be honest) and then I’m bringing the bar up to my belly button.

So so tired. So so sore. Today was such a terrible day for volleyball. It rained (poured) on and off all day. We did terrible in round robin play, but pulled it together for playoffs and finished 5th. There were some super teams there!! There were actually 3 teams (including my own) where we knew all the players from different nights I play, so the 12 of us ended up hanging out under a tarp one of them put up while it rained.

Highlights:

 1. One of the chicks on another team said “I’ll give $20 to the first person that slides through that giant mud puddle” (One of the courts looked to be a mud pool while it was pouring rain). Myself and another guy look at each other, I strip off my white tank and shorts so I’m in my bathing suit…forgot i also had my white sports bra on overtop lol, and the two of us race for the court.

As we’re running he says “Head first?” I say of course and the two of us go sliding. It wasn’t quite as deep as we thought but we got covered and it was tons of fun.

 1. The same chick says “I’ll give $20 to the first person that puts that worm in their mouth” and points to a worm on the ground. One of the guys picks it up, and holds it between his teeth and lips. SO hilarious!

Anyways, I got home, showered, cleaned up and went to see Pineapple Express with the boy. Such a funny stoner movie. Now, I’m back home and ready for bed. So wiped!

I’ve spent today foam rolling, napping and eating. I’m super stiff/tight today and my feet are sore. I have random bruises and cuts all over my body lol. Meh, I’m over it.

I’m prepping for tomorrow which is the big day. I have to head out of town in the evening for a work training course I’m on Tues and Wed, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be at the gym during the day tomorrow. It likely means Todd won’t be able to make it, however I do have a few other people in my corner

I’ll post video for sure after, regardless of the outcome.

I’ve also spent some time today watching the Olympics. I think I’m in love with the majority of the American swimmers. Watching sports makes me excited for football season to start. I love football season

But did you get the money!?

Obviously! She had it in our hands before we had even rinsed off… using water that had accumulated in some of the lawn chairs… freaking freezing cold water!!!

So then are your arms flared out or elbows close to the body?

Also, good luck tommorow!

They’re tucked in close right against my sides. When I pull the bar I focus on pinching my shoulder blades together.

And thanks for the luck  I’ve secured my spotter and camera-man (although I’ll likely just use the squatrack next to me and he can just watch lol).

Ah big day! We both know you are going to nail this, but I figured I would use my first post to wish you good luck! Proud of you!

Have fun today!! Ill be looking forward to the video…(no pressure, lol)

I think after she lifts 225 and laughs at how easy it felt, she should throw on more weight and squat again. (With proper rest of course).

I’d like to see “Just squatted 245” as the first sentence to her first post once she’s back from the gym.

What do you say people?

225 should go up easy for her.

Agreed and from the looks of it, she is more than capable.

Your gonna do great Court! 225 will be easy and when it is, I expect you to rest and go bigger.

It’s in the bag!

So I squatted 235.

Yep, that’s right. 2-3-5. I’d like to say I’m overjoyed, however I think my depth sucked. I’m actually really disappointed in my depth for all my singles. I taped 205, 225 and 235.

They all went up really fast and I could have handled more, but my legs were burning and I was already getting the pukey feeling in my stomach. And the session I did after (new program - quad dominant) is officially named “Vomit and Collapse Day”.

Here we go:

Single at 205:

Single at 225:

Single at 235:

I’m not sure if it was my mobility or if I somehow psyched myself out but I watched my video after my 205 and 225 and knew I had to get deeper, but didn’t.

Anyways, here was the rest of my vomit-inducing session:

B. Bulgarian Split Squats - 4x 5x5 90s rest. All with 30lb BB. These are done where 1 set is equal to 5 sets of 5 per leg (so by the end of 1 set, you’ve done 25 reps per leg). I had my back leg up on a bench.

C1. DB Squats - 3x12 0s rest. All with 2 20lb DBs.
C2. Leg Extensions - 3x12 0s rest. All with 45lbs.
C3. BW Squats - 3x25 45s rest.

I didn’t do my calf circuit after. In fact I collapsed into a heap on the floor very reminiscent of my leg complex with Alwyn after my last set of BW squats. I then dragged myself up off the floor and eventually made my painful travels down the stairs and into my car. I’m wiped right now. Also like after my session with Alwyn where I need an hour nap to function after.

Can’t really process my thoughts right now, but will likely post later from my hotel.

YEAH! I knew you could do it. Congrats Court, you earned it. Now that you know you can do it, you can focus on full ass to ankles.

Way to go girl

Very nice.

A mere 50 days ahead of schedule, and not 225lbs but 235lbs.

Plus Szwarz makes his T-Nation debut! LOL!

Rest up and enjoy the sense of accomplishment Court!

You are incredible! I just found this thread today, and it’s great. Keep up the good work. I love the post you had early on about ‘full body curls’.

WOO HOO!

Raise you hand to accept an internet high-five you strong, sassy bastard! high five Congrats, Cour! Whats next - a trip to Disney Land where you squat Mickey and make him your…you know, B word?

And while its damn near heresy to say to not squat ass to grass, I figure I’d throw out a warning that its probably safest just to squat to power lifter depth, especially as you move up in weight. The benefits of going ATG aren’t worth the risk IMO. Not trying to rain on you parade, just trying to keep ya injury free, homie.

Courtney!

Nice job, 235 is some serious weight, although I knew you’d get it after you easily handled the 205 early. Just curious but how wide is your stance? May be something to think about. Now time to pull from the ground, that’s the plan right?

Keep lifting hard!
