So just a bit of an update. As of the morning of Day 4 (so after 3 days on the diet), MiM is almost out of the race. I weighed in this morning at 151.4 which is exactly a 4lb drop in 3 days. Sayjin has asked that I quit peeing so that he can win, however my bladder will not allow that. Sorry bud.
Running Guy is doing well too. I’m pretty sure his water weight is gone lol. He had a huge drop from Day 2 to Day 3 but levelled out a bit more today.
I’m feeling good. Lots of energy, mentally awake. The only thing I notice is that I crave carbs when I’m hungry. As soon as I eat I’m fine, but in those “I need to eat NOW” moments, my body asks for carbs.
I’m home today studying for my GMAT so a bit behind in my water, but chugging away to catch up. I went to the grocery store and decided I’m in love with old people. I think Thursdays must be the day that the old folks home somewhere nearby loads them all onto a bus to do their grocery shopping. There were old ladies and old men everywhere. I was walking through the fruit/produce and one of the old ladies asked if I could split a bunch of bananas for her cuz there were 6 in the bunch and she only wanted 3. I almost stole her.
That reminds me that I need to go up north and visit my grandma soon. She’s crazy, but I love her lol.
I hate you. just kidding…but no really, I hate you…
It took me a MONTH to lose 4 pounds…but I’m guessing those 4 pounds were fat, cause I also lost 4 inches, go me…
I don’t crave carbs really…but it’s hard to resist at times…
Do you think this would be harder if there were carbs lurking?

Say like a big, hot, steaming bowl of pasta?
mmmmmm, pasta…you know you want some!!!
Ya we’ll see how much of this actually stays off though.
It’s only hard with carbs when I’m hungry. My family is big into carbs and as long as I’m fed I don’t care.
The other night when I came home from work starving and my brother was sitting there eating a chocolate chip cookie it took all I had not to punch him in the face and/or steal it from him and eat it. And then find the whole bag and eat all those too
So I trained during the afternoon today which was nice. The gym was quiet. Todd was there looking ever so bitchy. I think he has his period. Running Guy and I trained together. It’s nice, but at the same time, my workouts take almost twice as long. After the 10 days are up though we’ll get back to doing our own thing.
Upper Body 5x6:
A. Bench - 75/75/75x5/70/70
B. Chins - 6@6/@7/@7/@8/@8
C. Skullcrushers - 30/30/30x4/20/25
D. Seated Rows - 90/80/80/80/80
E. DB Side Laterals - 7.5
E2 Shoulder Press - 20/20/20/20 **
The laterals were making my shoulders pop something fierce so I subbed in shoulder press instead.
I was pretty excited about my bench! The most I’d put up before was 65 for 8, so I was glad to get 2 full sets in at 75. On my third set, RG was spotting and on my 5th rep came close to touching the bar as I was locking out.
I grunted/yelled “Don’t touch it!” and locked out. Then I bring the bar down for the 6th rep, get about 4 inches off my chest and it starts coming back down and I have to then tell him he’s allowed to touch it. It was pretty funny. Maybe you had to be there lol.
Anyways, came home and had some carbs, now doing some studying then dinner time. I’ve actually felt the most alert & energetic today than the past three days. Bizarre. Oh well.
Can I say do well on the GMAT tomorrow now without being a day behind? Good. And btw the way, just so everyone knows, my guess for her weight was created by studying her data for 26 hours straight.
I also invited a few MIT professors in order to help with the various calculations that were nessecary in order for me to make such a confident statement. She may appear to be evading me right now, but in the end my numbers shall reign supreme!

Hmmm…let’s see.You’re probably correct.
I’m on day 8 of no/low carbs, with maybe a day or two the last month and a bit where I’ve had carbs. I’m sick. I’m just over 3 weeks out from the show and have a stubborn layer around my midsection that’s not disappearing. I can’t do my am cardio.
My work asked me to help them out with a demo in Minnesota and I agreed to go for 1.5 days and now it’s going to be closer to 3 days.
Yeah, I was cranky!
Oh and Old people, the ones you love so much, they shouldn’t be driving. I saw TWO cars driven by Old people run red lights yesterday. I’m not talking about gliding through yellows. I’m talking treating the stop light like a stop sign and nearly killing people.
So no, I didn’t fall off the face of the earth. I just ran around like a crazy person after my gmat yesterday (which went well btw).
Did 30 minutes of HIIT on the stairmill. Same intervals (30-60) and same intensity. I was sweating like a fat kid in a candy store. Then went and had a true test of will… went out for a friend’s birthday dinner. Stuck to fish and veggies though butlet me tell you that the cake the birthday boy’s gf baked for everyone looked soooooo good (chocolate brownie) but I resisted. And continued to drink my water while everyone else boozed up.
I didn’t get nearly enough water in yesterday. Since each section of the gmat is timed I didn’t want to have to pee every 5 minutes. And I wasn’t allowed any water in the room either… so by the time 330 rolled around I only had about 1.5L in me. I made it up to about 4, and woke up so parched this morning.
Today is lower body, low weight/high reps. Neither RG nor I are really looking forward to it because our legs are still tender from a combo of Wed heavy legs and yesterdays HIIT. Oh well, to the gym we go…

I thought I asked before, but I don’t see the post:
Are you taking any pwo drink?
Don’t remember answering so maybe you just thought about asking
I’m taking a protein shake immediately PWO 4C/48P/4F along with glutamine and BCAAs. I then have my “carb” meal (I put it in quotes because 35g of carbs hardly consitutes a carb meal) once I get home. However this week it’s been berries of some sort. I haven’t wanted anything starchy and the berries and I are loving each other.
That was the theme post-training today. I couldn’t carry a conversation to save my life. I went to my supp store and tried to chat with the people that work there (the 2 owners and 1 of their gf’s also train at our gym) but I couldn’t piece a coherent sentence together. I told the chick (a figure competitor) about my low-carb-ness and she said she totally understood where I was and it was okay that I couldn’t speak English
So today was low weight, high rep legs. Going in I felt fantastic. Lots of energy, mentally alert (sleeping 10.5 hours last night after being a stress case for the last few days had to have helped). After my first set of squats though, I pretty much felt like I was going to die. The trend continued throughout. I was exhausted and it took everything I had just to make it through the session.
At any rate… it was 3x12-15
A. Squat - 15x115, 15x125, 13x135
B. Stiffleg Deads - 15x85, 13x95, 12x95
C. Walking Lunges (DBs) - 15x20, 13x20, 14x15
D. Hyperextensions - 15x10, 14x10, 14x10
E. Standing Calf Raise - 14x75, 15x75, 15x75
My endurance dropped off huge for B and C sets. I have one more leg session on Wednesday… heavy legs… should be interesting to see what my strength is like then. Tomorrow is low weight high rep upper body. This is what we started with on Day 1. I’m wondering how Day 7 will treat it.
I don’t actually mind this diet. I’m not hungry. I haven’t been as irritable as I expected. And my energy has been decent. I lack some endurance in my training sessions, but that’s about it.
What I’m struggling with is variety in what I can eat. Meat and veggies as a meal is just getting so blah. Maybe I need to learn to cook with more variety even if I’m cooking the same meats?
Having to go out for a friend’s bday last night also kinda sucked, but it wasn’t that bad. We’ll see how I feel over the last 4 days, but as it stands I could do something ‘similar’ (some morning carbs would be fantastic) to this easily 90% of my week. I’d like some flexibility to actually go out and have a full meal and maybe a glass of wine or two on occassion, but thats about it.
I know the boy is struggling with the social aspect a bit more than I am because his friends have a tendency to go out for dinner twice a week or so. He’s just been declining instead of having to explain to the guys he’s on a low carb diet with me. They’d make rude comments (as they should because if one of them did the same thing, I’d make some comments). Tonight is movie night though. Ironman and What Happens in Vegas. Technically I also rented Sex and the City, however I’m not so mean as to make him watch that with me even though he’s subjecting me to Ironman

If you’re enjoying the low-carb feel, you should really look into the Anabolic Diet. I have the book on pdf if you need it. My wife and I did it for 5 weeks until she got pregnant, but that was a pretty good 5 weeks. I enjoyed not having food coma after eating. I felt more alert and had higher than normal energy. I also found that I totally lost my sweet tooth minus the occasional carb free jello benders.
You probably know what the anabolic diet is, but if not, here is a summary. Monday through Friday you eat less than 30 grams of carbs (this is variable depending on your personal carb tolerance. I could handle higher carbs than my wife without ill effects) and then you get 60 percent fats and the rest protein. So basically its a macro breakdown of 60fat/35protein/5carbs. After going low carb for mon-fri, on saturday and sunday you switch your macros to 60 percent carb, lower fat.
For the AD you have to do an induction period of 12 days, which is basically just skipping your first carb weekend, to make sure you’re fully fat converted. You’ll already have that done, so if you carb up and feel like crap then give the AD a shot!
So today was the same workout I started with on Day 1… today wasn’t bad. I’m not losing strength, but my endurance is laughable. It also didn’t help that I trained after only having a morning shake… anyways… 3x12-5
A. Bench - 15x60, 15x60, 12x60
B. Assissted Chins - 15@10, 15@10, 12@10
C. Skullcrushers - 3x15x20
D. Seated Row - 3x15x57.5
E. DB Side Laterals - 15x5, 15x5, 13x5
I’m doing better than the boy. He’s losing strength and endurance and it isn’t treating him that well at the moment. We’ve both stalled for the last two days so we’re going to up our water tomorrow and drown ourselves. 3 more days
So I stopped at a butchershop on my way home from the gym to pick up meat for my fam. There was one customer in there already ordering, and then me.
Only one man behind the counter. He helps him then moves over to the cash so this guy can pay. Some 35ish yo woman comes busting in all frazzled.
Worker 2 comes up behind the counter and asks who is next. Worker 1 says “This young lady here” and motions towards me. The following conversation ensued:
Rude biatch: “Actually I’m next, I’m waiting.”
Me: “I’ve actually been here waiting as well, I believe I’m first.” (still patient and polite tone)
Rude: “Well I’m waiting too so I’m going to order”
Me: “Since you’re clearly in a hurry and clearly MUCH more important than I am, why don’t you go ahead” (a wee bit of bitch came out here)
Rude lady scoffs and then mutters under her breath… “Highschool kids have no respect for adults anymore”
Me: “Actually I’m not in highschool, but I do have manners. I certainly hope you don’t have any kids you’re trying to teach manners to”
The highschool remark probably comes from the fact I had my hair in a ponytail, no makeup, shorts, and men’s med tshirt that I was kind of swimming in.
So yeah… I almost punched her in the face. The first guy finished up at the cash and came right over to me. I didn’t really care about the fact that she went first, it’s not like I was in a rush. Her lack of manners however was astounding. The guy helping me was smirking and trying not to laugh out loud I think.
