I built this some time ago. I was recently asked for pics so here they are so as to not jack that others guys thread. Having used a real RH a few times this one essentially does the job for waaaaaay cheaper. Sure it’s not as comfortable and it takes a few min to set up but it doesn’t cost $1000+. Even the Rogue fitness model is still around $600ish right? While some people do not like RH’s & some people swear by them. This definitely worth The $45-50 I spent making it to “try before I buy” at the very least. I used 2x4’s 2x6’s and standard lengths of black iron pipe that I got at Lowes. (tip- go to the post office and get some change of address forms, they will have a 10% off at Lowes card in them, you’ll use that at some point, maybe not for this project but for something. The post office will give you a handful)
Anyways, you can set this thing up to be flat, incline and decline depending on how one sets it up with the spot pins and J- Hooks. If any EFS guys read this, make this for your racks and I’ll buy one, Just send me a tee shirt for the idea
I stick the device in the J-Hook to prevent it from sliding around while performing the movement. If you want incline, just put the device in the hooks on the far side of the rack, just inverse of this arrangement.
so there it is. took about an hour to fab up, about $45-50 and I’ve had 2 plates per side on the tee with no issues. I do it in a controlled manner and not let it just swing all over the place. I typically steal my ol ladies Yoga mat to use it as a pad.
Ive even used this thing as a deficit dead-lift platform. It’s about 4.5" thick so you’ll really be in a deficit. Hope this gives y’all some ideas,
Wow, not a bad little piece of equipment. I was excited when I did box squats off my bench in my rack, and I used my safety bars to do dips. This is amazing.
I forgot to mention that I’ve put my home GHr on top of this and done GHr’s off the side of the rack before too. This way I cn throw a mini band on top and do assisted GHR’s. It’s also served as a makeshift workbench for stuff too! Definitely got my $45 buck worth out of it.
Hey thanks for posting that. That’s a pretty great homemade set up. I’ve seen some others that look so ghetto and tippy, but using the rack as a platform for it is an awesome idea.
How are the handles secured? Are they kind of free moving or are they secured in one spot?
2 big thumbs up for not having to spend 1000 bucks+ on one, ive been wanting to build a reverse hyper and GHR because I don’t have the money to spend to buy a proper one.
