Hello all,
In the recent Ghost Wolf article, it was mentioned that a good routine for cartilage, which is a concern for me, is to workout with heavy weights for two days straight and then ultra-light sets for two days straight, then to take a full three days off.
I was going to do this, but I wanted to get some input on the whole rest day thing. I am used to spacing 3 days a week for light cardio and then 1 full day of nothing. I know that recovery is as important as the workout. Even though this routine may be good for cartilage, will everything else suffer because of the lack of spaced out rocovery time?

Recovery is recovery, whether it’s Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, or Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday isn’t such a huge deal. And if you’re worried about losing size or strength, you’re still working intensely twice a week, which should be enough to maintain what you’ve got.
I’d double check, though, as to why you’re doing this style of routine. Joint health is absolutely important for everyone. So just keep in mind that that’s what the priority is for as long as you stick to this routine. Maybe you can adapt it and do a cycle of “Joint Friendly exercise” 1 week a month, or something similar, rather than 2-4 weeks straight.

Hmmmmm… that sounds like it might make sense. That way I am getting growth as well as keeping my joints healthy. In addition, high rep sets can help induce growth indirectly through some capillary growth stimulation. I think that may be what I do.
