I have a bad cold right now and find that zinc tablets help a lot.
Like your hot toddy recipe, sans the alcohol… Do youn have yours swirling in a brandy balloon?
Moving my head backwards ie a half backbend relieves blocked sinuses a bit.
And lots of hot water, though i never drink enough.
Hope this helps - I love remedies!![/quote]
What’s a brandy balloon? I just use a glass.
And I agree, zinc is magical. I do take zinc in the am, I like a hot toddy at night. The heat is very soothing on a sore throat and the alcohol is 10x better than advil IMO.
One heaped teaspoon ground ginger
Half teaspoon cinnamon
Squeese of lemmon juice
1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
1 gram vitamin c
Just add boiling water and drink as a tea
Tastes, sour (i like sour), but it really works wonders for allergies. Ginger is a natural decongestant - I find this remedy does more than an allergy pill and decongestant.
If you have a cold, do the same, but add in 1 gram asprin and one tot whiskey at night!
I drink this (without asprin and whiskey) 3 times a day!
I like my sinus rinse vs the neti pot. The forced pressure seems to work better for me. What I also do (since my ears tend to feel pressure) is add some 4-way in to the mix. Than I use half the rinse, and pinch my nose trapping the mixture in. You can pop your ears and that will help drain the ear pressure if that’s ever a problem or just keep your head tilted back as long as possible. The 4 way does an amazing job at keeping the swelling down.
My parents used to give me a hot toddy too. But ours is hot water, shot or so of whiskey (usually use Jamesons), brown sugar, and lemon if we have it. Although I’ve never put it in mine.
