For OTC cold remedies, buy one of the formulas sold behind the counter that contains psuedoephedrine. The new formulas don’t work.
Time. Anything else provides comfort but isn’t going to get you better faster. Pseudoephedrine is an effective decongestant, Afrin nasal spray helps to open up the nose, I like a hot eucalyptas
tea myself. If you have access to a sauna, wet or fry, try that out.
As far as training goes, train to how you feel able to. Don't force it. It might be better to take it easy for a few days and do light workouts if you need to.
Get well soon.

Afrin is great the day you take it but the next day there’s a rebound and your nose feels like it’d packed with cement.
The only thing clinically proven to shorten the duration of a cold is Mega-Doses of Vitamin C. However, doses over 3 grams cause diarrhea.
swallow a few cloves of garlic, it works!!
I think I’ve had the cold for days and days now, but I take so many vitamins it barely has taken affect. I’d say the Vitamin C thing works.
sleep I got hit earlier this week wit ha really bad one, taken 3 days. Im taking my time before I go back to the gym want to make sure I don’t get sick again. It sucks been week now since I lifted.

What you do is find the biggest capsules of Vitamin C you can, and put one up each nostril.
There, no more runny nose.

I’ve not experienced this rebound effect of which you speak. Take it 2x a day for no more than 3 days straight as it can be addictive. Alka Seltzer plus (the dissolvable tabs, not the chewables) is my favorite cold med. I used to take it back when it was unflavored, but now it’s not a bad tasting drink. So, my cold treatment nowadays is soup, sleep and Alka Seltzer plus.

Vitamin C has not been clinically proven to work…
There is only one clinically proven method of shortening the cold duration and thats a specific zinc combination suplement.
points you should remember.
Relief is individual. For me Theraflu works wonderful for 5 hours. So good sometimes I go back and do something stupid to help stay sick.
For shortening the duration Cold-eeze zinc losengez have been best. However it will not work if you don’t follow the directions and take them EVERY 2 HOURS, I think it is. whatever it says on the package.
Certian green teas, or green echenacea teas at the end or begining help lessen the effects of the cold pretty well. Unfortunately the lessen the effect of the losengez if you want to use both use them interchangeably. Like green tea 2 hours losengez 2 hours green tea 2 hours. Or take both right before bed.
Chicken noodle soup primarily broth helps with sore throats some.
