Rehab Advice

We have a lot of medical practicioners on this forum, and if I may speak for them, we don’t mind giving advice on rehab questions (as long as everyone understands the limitations of advising you without examination). The problem is that when a question is posted, very little information is given. For instance, “I injured my knee, what is a good exercise to fix it?” provides us (the geeks) with insufficient info to even guess at any reasonable recommendations. In an effort to improve the quality of response, please provide answers to the following (any other practitioners may add to this list):
How did the injury occur?(for instance, at what point in the lift or activity)
Where specifically is the primary problem?
Are there any cardinal signs? (pain, swelling, redness, etc.)
Are there any range of motion limitations?
What movement or activity makes it worse?
What makes it better?
Any unusual sensations? (numbness, tinglin, etc.)
How long has it bothered you?
What treatment/exercises have you tried already?
Have you seen a health professional yet?
Which reminds me…don’t wait too long to see a medical professional as it can accelerated your return to normal activities and at least rule out/or identify any major problems (you can pay me now, or you can pay me later). Hope this helps.

Good point Bill. A complete history is just as important as an examination. Acute injuries can be fairly obvious. Chronic or overuse type injuries can be difficult to diagnosis w/o lengthy q&a.
