I injured the rotator cuff on my right arm last month benching and I suffered a severe drop in my bench press strength, from 175x5 to 175x1. Over the 3 weeks period of my injury, I’ve gotten my OHP from 125x2 to 135x2 in hopes of strengthing my tris and delts so that my bench strength is intact, but obviously not. Now I am carefully working my way back up the ladder by doing CGBP 3x5. I thought working back up my strength would be a smooth ride cuz of muscle memory and all that, but today I missed one rep on the third set of 160 which makes me wonder what I should be expecting from this. So my question is, what did you do to regain your strength and how long did it take? Is it going to be a smooth ride or is the strength I’ve previously worked so hard on lost in vain effort? Also, is there any special exercise I can do for strength recovery?
